The Role of the Korlantas Polri Recognized as Nationally Strategic, Commission III of the DPR RI Unhesitatingly Pushes for Korlantas Status as Balantas

Hearing between Commission III of the DPR RI and the Korlantas Polri at the Parliament Complex, Central Jakarta.

progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) held a hearing with the Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas Polri) at the Parliament Complex, Central Jakarta, Thursday, (27/11). Following the meeting’s proceedings, Commission III decided to push for the elevation of the Korlantas Polri’s status to the National Police Traffic Agency (Balantas). The agency’s highest leadership was also raised from two stars to three stars, namely Commissioner General.

House Commission III member, Hinca Pandjaitan stated in the meeting that, the need for institutional strengthening for the Korlantas Polri cannot be postponed any longer. Furthermore, the institution has made numerous breakthroughs in public service innovation, including the introduction of digital services through the Signal and Sinar applications.

These two digital platforms were created to facilitate the public in registering and administering motorized vehicles, as well as in renewing and issuing driving licenses.

Another effort is the Korlantas Polri’s efforts to optimize the ETLE surveillance camera system. Also, strengthening public driving safety services through the development of the Indonesia Safety Driving Center (ISDC), an extension of the Korlantas Polri.

Kakorlantas Polri, Irjen Pol Agus Suryonugroho, following the hearing at the DPR RI.

“This is a recognition that factors such as traffic congestion, accidents, the digitalization of public services, and the presence of ISDC as a driving safety training center require a strong and more adaptive organizational framework at the national policy level. The Korlantas Polri already exists at the national level, no longer at the regional level,” explained the Democratic Party politician, born on September 25, 1964, enthusiastically.

He further emphasized, that efforts to improve the status of the Korlantas would be pushed forward vigorously to ensure that the rhythm of Polri’s transformation remains stable and aligned with the Kapolri’s policies and applicable regulations.

Furthermore, the increase in status and rank structure is expected to provide a stimulus that strengthens the Korlantas network and its ability to respond quickly to increasingly complex mobility challenges, whether that be the surge in vehicle traffic, the development of new infrastructure, or the breakthrough innovations of the digital 4.0 era for public services.

And as is well known, this era always prioritizes high connectivity through the Internet of Things (IoT), intelligent automation, artificial intelligence (AI), big data, and cloud computing, which have fundamentally changed the way people produce and live.

That’s why, at the end of the meeting, Commission III seemed so confident that it no longer felt awkward in assessing and deciding. It was an acknowledgment that the role of the Korlantas Polri in maintaining smooth public mobility is now highly strategic and crucial at the national level. Awesome! (Bembo)
