progresifjaya.co.id, ACEH TAMIANG — Wakapolri, Komjen Pol Dedi Prasetyo conducted a direct inspection of flood-affected areas in Aceh Tamiang on Wednesday, (3/12). The inspection was conducted using an AW helicopter belonging to the Polri Polairud and Baharkam from Kualanamu Airport, Deli Serdang, North Sumatera. Upon arrival in Aceh Tamiang, Wakapolri Dedi was greeted by the Regent of Aceh Tamiang, Armia Fahmi, and accompanied to the Ministry of Social Affairs’ aid post.

During this inspection, Wakapolri Dedi aimed to ensure optimal emergency response and also assess the community’s urgent needs, including clean water, drinking water, clothing, and trucks transporting supplies from the port to evacuation centers.

Afterward, Wakapolri Dedi held a dialogue with the local Kapolres and Kapolsek. He also wanted to ascertain the condition of the Polri in the affected areas. After learning that personnel in the affected areas needed field service uniforms (PDL), he immediately promised to send 600 sets of PDL to meet the needs of personnel at the Aceh Tamiang Polres.

During the inspection of this post, Wakapolri Dedi also provided guidance on the operation of Brimob tactical vehicles. He also provided special equipment, including water treatment units and water jets, to help meet the residents’ need for potable water.

“We will manage existing water sources and then process them through water treatment so they can be directly distributed to the community. The water jets use an airborne method to produce water ready for use,” explained Wakapolri Dedi.

He also outlined several concrete steps the Polri will immediately take to assist in the recovery of Aceh Tamiang.

“Logistics will continue to be sent daily. Tomorrow, we will send 16 tons of logistics to meet the needs of the community in Aceh Tangguh,” explained the three-star general from the Dhira Brata Battalion, Akpol 1990.

“The Regent will be the leading sector in the distribution process, especially for the Tugiran community, which is currently facing severe hardship and isolation. The Regent has also requested additional transportation equipment, such as trucks. In Syaa Allah, i will communicate this with the Kapolda North Sumatera. I know the Polda North Sumatera have several trucks that we can push to Aceh Tangguh,” he added.

From the command post, Wakapolri Dedi’s next visit was to the Regent’s Hall complex. The hall was previously submerged in floodwaters more than two meters deep. At this location, the wife of the Aceh Tamiang Regent, who was cleaning the building, rushed to meet the Wakapolri Dedi, holding back tears. And to her, he reiterated the Polri’s commitment to assisting the recovery of the affected areas in Aceh Tamiang as much as possible.

At the hall, Wakapolri Dedi also unloaded logistical aid to be distributed to residents through village officials. Several residents in attendance expressed their gratitude and hoped that more aid could be sent soon.

After leaving the pavilion, Wakapolri Dedi then proceeded to the logistics warehouse. There, a Bhayangkari immediately approached him in tears, explaining that the police barracks where she lived were badly damaged. Ironically, she also admitted he had no family in Aceh Tamiang. Wakapolri Dedi tried to reassure this Bhayangkari. He also reassured her and expressed optimism that aid for the police officers and their families would arrive soon.

After completing all phases of the inspection, Wakapolri Dedi returned to the police helicopter and departed for Kualanamu to continue his inspection of flood- and landslide-affected areas in West Sumatera. (Bembo)
