The Polda Metro Jaya’s Ditreskrimsus Fismondev Forcefully Shuts Down Counterfeit USD and SGD Bill Business, Two Suspects Jailed

Two suspects in the production and distribution of counterfeit US dollar and Singapore dollar bills, detained by the Sub-Directorate of Fismondev, Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation Polda Metro Jaya, along with the evidence obtained.

progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA — A criminal business producing and distributing counterfeit US dollar (USD) and Singapore dollar (SGD) bills was successfully shut down by officers from the Sub-Directorate of Fismondev, Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimsus) of the Polda Metro Jaya. Two suspects involved in the business were also jailed along with evidence, including thousands of counterfeit dollar bills.

In his explanation to the media, the Director of Special Criminal Investigation at the Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Edy Suranta Sitepu stated, that this cunning and evil business was stopped thanks to accurate information from the public about the rampant circulation of suspected counterfeit foreign currency. Based on the information received, the Sub-Directorate of Fismondev Team then conducted a thorough investigation and ultimately decided to take action to forcibly shut down this tricky and fraudulent business.

 “The first suspect we arrested was identified as HS. We apprehended him on a bus on the Pandeglang-Kalideres route in Tangerang City. He was a counterfeit money distributor,” said Senior Commissioner Edy Suranta Sitepu on Thursday, December 18, 2025.

From HS, we recovered 1.934 US dollar bills and 529 Singapore dollar bills, including several uncut counterfeit bills. We also recovered a bag, cell phone, laptop, printer, printer ink, and several other tools for printing counterfeit money.

After HS was apprehended, we expanded our investigation to Pandeglang, Banten. In this area, known as the “City of Rhinos,” another suspect was apprehended and placed in a bag. The suspect, identified as ARS, was both the designer and printer of the counterfeit USD and SGD bills.

“Investigators are currently conducting the investigation, with further investigations possible,” said Kombes Pol Edy. Reflecting on this case, Kombes Pol Edy reiterated, that the Polda Metro Jaya is urging the public to be more vigilant against the circulation of counterfeit money, especially foreign currency.
