progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – The practice of a clandestine laboratory producing synthetic tobacco narcotics was successfully stopped by the Operational Team of Sub-Directorate 1 of the Polda Metro Jaya Narcotics Directorate on Thursday, January 8, 2026. The narcotics laboratory, which was operating clandestinely, was located in South Jakarta. A man with the initial R (25) was also apprehended in this operation.

Further elaborating, the Acting Head of Unit 2 of Sub-Directorate 1 of the Polda Metro Jaya Narcotics Directorate, Iptu Ahmad Huda said, that the operation to stop this drug laboratory practice was possible thanks to information from the public regarding alleged drug abuse at a guesthouse in the Jagakarsa area. Based on this information, the Operational Team of Sub-Directorate 1 immediately conducted an investigation. Finally, one suspect was apprehended in room number 4A of Reddorz Premium Near Lenteng Agung Station, Jalan Gandaria I, Jagakarsa, South Jakarta, at around 10:55 PM.

During the search, a number of pieces of evidence strongly suspected of being used to produce synthetic tobacco were found. These items were stored in the kitchen area in a white paper bag.

The items included 23 bottles of 500 milliliter synthetic tobacco seed spray, synthetic tobacco weighing 206 grams gross, and a liquid measuring cup. Also seized were rolling papers and two packs of tobacco suspected of being used in the mixing process.

Based on initial analysis and calculations, the seized evidence and raw materials would produce 2 kilograms of ready-to-distribute synthetic tobacco with a value of Rp2 billion if processed and sprayed with the synthetic liquid.

“If sprayed, these spray materials have the potential to produce 2 kilograms of synthetic tobacco with a market value of Rp2 billion. The potential is very dangerous,” said Iptu Ahmad Huda on Friday, January 16, 2026.

Currently, the police are still conducting investigations to uncover the network of suppliers and distributors of this synthetic tobacco. Meanwhile, suspect R and the evidence have been secured at the Polda Metro Jaya headquarters for further investigation. (Bembo)
