Nightlife Observer Tete Marthadilaga Urges Jakarta Governor to Revoke “Party Station” Nightclub Permit in Jagakarsa

Nightlife Observer, Tete Marthadilaga.

progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – Hundreds of residents of Sengseng Sawah Village, Jagakarsa District, South Jakarta, held a peaceful protest against the opening of the “Party Station” nightclub at the Kartika One Hotel on Friday, January 30, 2026, last night. This peaceful protest was a protest against the Jakarta Provincial Government’s Tourism Office, which they considered haphazardly issuing a THM permit without carefully considering the characteristics of the area where the THM was located.

During this protest, residents also threatened further demonstrations if the Jakarta Provincial Government’s Tourism Office failed to revoke the permit already issued.

Regarding this issue, Nightlife Observer S. Tete Marthadilaga assessed that the Jakarta Provincial Government’s Tourism Office had acted rashly and arrogantly in using its authority. As the agency responsible for issuing THM permits, the Tourism Office should have been able to work more effectively in its process of scrutinizing the permit issuance process.

“The Tourism Office shouldn’t appear to be acting carelessly and rashly in issuing THM permits. Don’t assume that just because the envelope is thick, it’s automatically approved. There’s no in-depth study of the characteristics of the area and its population. It’s like what happened in Kampung Srengseng Sawah for the “Party Station” THM,” Tete explained to progresifjaya.co.id on Wednesday, February 4, 2026.

Kampung Srengseng Sawah, Jagakarsa, is the largest sub-district in South Jakarta. Besides being known as a campus area, this area is also known as a center of Betawi culture. In this buffer zone bordering Depok City, West Java, there is also Setu Babakan, which serves as a cultural and environmental oasis amidst Jakarta’s modernization.

Meanwhile, regarding the outcry from religious, cultural, and youth leaders who held a demonstration against the “Party Station” THM, Mas Tete – his nickname – firmly demanded that Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung immediately order the Head of the Jakarta Tourism Office, Andhika Permata, to revoke the permit for the “Party Station” THM that had already been issued.

“I urge and request that the Governor of Jakarta, Mas Pram, immediately review the permit that has already been issued. However, it would be better to revoke or cancel the permit as soon as possible to calm local residents’ concerns. Remember, Kampung Sawah is part of a buffer zone and is designated as a center of Betawi culture,” Mas Tete Martha firmly explained.

As is known, the “Stay Station” THM at the Kartika One Hotel is located at Jalan Lenteng Agung No. 18, RT 010/RW 02, Srengseng Sawah, Jagakarsa District, South Jakarta. Its characteristics are very different from the area along Jalan Mangga Besar, West Jakarta, or the Kemang area of South Jakarta.

“The characteristics of Srengseng Sawah and Jagakarsa are more of a residential/buffer zone. Meanwhile, Mangga Besar Kota is a nightlife hub, and Kemang is a dynamic commercial and expatriate area. These differences automatically encompass land use, economic activity, and the surrounding environment,” explained Mas Tete Martha.

Therefore, he urged tourism industry entrepreneurs, especially in Jakarta, to be wise by considering their chosen areas first and to respect local wisdom.

“Nightlife businesses such as nightclubs, bars, and discos must be sustainable. They must balance economic benefits with environmental responsibility and positive social impacts. This sustainable approach will also improve security and order in the community and be mutually beneficial for both parties,” Mas Tete Matha said in his analysis. (Bembo)
