progresifjaya.co.id, SURABAYA – Kapolri, Jenderal Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo provided an in-depth explanation of the global economic challenges facing Indonesia during a gathering with members of the All-Indonesian Trade Union Confederation (KSPSI) in East Java on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. He emphasized the importance of synergy between workers and the government to maintain national stability amidst global uncertainty.

This presentation was delivered by Kapolri Listyo Sigit during the Ramadhan Safari and gathering at the East Java KSPSI Regional Executive Board Office on Jalan Raya Lontar Candi Lempung, Surabaya.

Kapolri Listyo Sigit also discussed the increasingly tense geopolitical situation in the Middle East. He highlighted how the escalating conflict between Israel, the United States, and Iran has directly impacted global energy stability.

“This situation requires us to be prepared. Global oil prices continue to rise, perhaps even reaching US$100 per barrel this morning. And as a country still dependent on imports, this is certainly a major task for the government to maintain stable domestic prices through the contribution of very large subsidies,” explained Kapolri Listyo Sigit.

In response to these challenges, Kapolri Listyo Sigit continued, President Prabowo Subianto continues to pursue independent and active political diplomacy to seek a peaceful solution while securing Indonesia’s export market. Thankfully, the government’s efforts to reduce trade barriers with the United States and European countries are now beginning to bear tangible results.

“The President has pushed for imports of certain commodities, such as shoes, textiles, furniture, and semiconductors, to be subject to a 0 percent tariff. This is to ensure our industry survives and to protect our fellow workers from the negative impacts of the global economic downturn,” he said.

“The government is also accelerating 18 strategic downstreaming plans to create new jobs for the community,” he added.

Furthermore, Kapolri Listyo Sigit also emphasized, that the key to facing the crisis is unity and maintaining the trust of market players. To that end, he urged workers, especially the KSPSI family, to be at the forefront of maintaining a conducive investment climate in Indonesia.

“For investment to come in, trust is needed. I thank my fellow workers who understand this very well. We never prohibit workers from fighting for their rights. However, industry must also continue to grow, because it is our common home. If industry is healthy, workers will certainly prosper,” explained Kapolri Listyo Sigit.

He continued, explaining that concrete steps of support from the Polri are being implemented through the performance of the Polri Manpower Desk, which will continue to be strengthened and developed, starting from the Headquarters level, through the Polda, down to the Polres in industrial areas. This desk is dedicated by the Polri to assist in resolving industrial issues.

“We want to address the issue in its true context. If workers have rights, then those rights must be granted. Use this desk for mentoring and assistance,” the Kapolri emphasized.

In addition to legal matters, the Kapolri also issued special instructions to the Head of the Polri Medical and Health Center, Irjen Pol Asep Hendradiana, to open all Polri Hospitals to workers.
