progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – The plan to implement traffic engineering in the Tanjung Priok Port area, North Jakarta, was the main topic of discussion at a cross-sectoral coordination meeting held at the Nusantara Pura Passenger Terminal on Thursday, March 26, 2016. This plan was thoroughly discussed to address the increase in freight transport activity following the Eid al-Fitr 1447 H holiday.

In addition to traffic engineering, mapping of potential vehicle congestion, particularly for three-axle trucks, was also discussed ahead of the end of the freight transport operational restrictions. As is known, Saturday, March 29, 2016, is the deadline for the Joint Decree of the Three Ministers regarding the three-axle vehicle operational restrictions.

The Director of Traffic (Dirlantas) of the Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Komarudin stated in a statement, that his department had anticipated increased activity in the port area. Various traffic management scenarios had been prepared as a precautionary measure.

“We would like to inform the public that activity at Tanjung Priok Port has increased significantly. Moreover, the 29th marks the deadline for the Joint Decree of the Three Ministers regarding restrictions on the operation of three-axle vehicles,” he emphasized.

This cross-sectoral coordination meeting was attended by all relevant parties, including the North Jakarta City Government, port authorities, port operators, the police, and stakeholders in the logistics and transportation sectors.

The Polda Metro Jaya Traffic Directorate hopes that this collaboration will ensure optimal distribution of goods, accompanied by measurable traffic management. (Bembo)
