Kapolri Attends 16th Munas of the IPSI Opened by President Prabowo Subianto at the JCC in Senayan, Jakarta

progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – Kapolri, Jenderal Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo and Indonesian National Armed Forces Commander Jenderal TNI Agus Subiyanto attended the 16th National Conference (Munas) of the Indonesian Pencak Silat Association (IPSI) at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) in Senayan, Jakarta, on Saturday, April 11, 2026. Both arrived at the venue at 12:30 p.m, and immediately shook hands with IPSI officials, then sat side by side waiting for the event to begin.

Furthermore, Army Chief of Staff Jenderal TNI Maruli Simanjuntak also attended, wearing pencak silat attire. Also in attendance were ministers from the Indonesian Cabinet, including Minister of Youth and Sports Erick Thohir and Minister of Research, Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto.

The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, arrived at the 16th IPSI National Conference at 1:30 p.m. He was greeted by Minister of Youth and Sports Erick Thohir, who then escorted him to the opening room of the Conference.

As President Prabowo entered the opening room, the martial artists simultaneously donned sacred attire to welcome the Indonesian leader.

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, who is also the General Chair of IPSI, attended the opening of the 16th IPSI National Conference at the JCC Senayan, Jakarta.

The President’s presence at this event also affirmed the government’s commitment to preserving culture and developing Indonesia’s indigenous sport, pencak silat.

The 16th IPSI National Conference included the election of administrators and the establishment of a work program for the 2026–2030 period. It also discussed the continuation of pencak silat’s development as a national cultural heritage and sports achievements, as well as the direction of pencak silat’s future development, including strengthening the organization and increasing competitiveness at the global level.

Previously, the 16th IPSI Pre-National Conference (Pra-Munas) session served as a crucial opportunity to formulate a new direction for the organization. The formulation focuses on strengthening the role of pencak silat in education and enhancing its presence globally.

President Prabowo Subianto himself has served as Chairman of the IPSI since 2004, succeeding Eddie Mardjoeki Nalapraya. He led IPSI for five consecutive terms, from 2004 until his term ended at this year’s National Conference.

In this context, the Kapolri, Jenderal Listyo Sigit Prabowo, previously held the 2nd National Pencak Silat Championship, the Kapolri Cup, at the Ciracas Sports Hall in September 2024. The purpose of this National Championship was to identify talented athletes and preserve the traditional martial art. (Bembo)
