Tulungagung Regent Gatut Sunu Wibowo, caught in a sting operation (OTT) by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – The case of Tulungagung Regent, Gatut Sunu Wibowo, who was caught in a sting operation (OTT) by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and subsequently linked to Gerindra Party members, was clarified directly by the Daily Chair of the Gerindra Party’s Central Leadership Council (DPP), Sufmi Dasco Ahmad.

He explained, that during the 2024 Tulungagung Regional Head Election (Pilkada), Gatut Sunu was supported by many parties, but at that time he was not yet a Gerindra Party member.

Gatut Sunu only registered to join the Gerindra Party after he was elected Regent of Tulungagung.

“He recently registered as a Gerindra member, and he did so after he became the Regent of Tulungagung,” Sufmi Dasco told the media on Saturday, April 11, 2026.

Sufmi Dasco also mentioned, that the original Gerindra member in Tulungagung is Ahmad Baharudin, who currently serves as the Deputy Regent of Tulungagung.

“The original Gerindra member is the deputy regent,” Sufmi Dasco added.

Hidayat, Head of the OKK (Organization, Cadre Development, and Membership) of the East Java Gerindra Regional Leadership Council (DPD) also added, that although he has registered as a Gerindra member, Gatut Sunu is not yet officially a Gerindra Party member.

However, he didn’t deny that Gatut Sunu will join the Gerindra Party in the near future. He is just waiting for the green light from the Gerindra Central Executive Board (DPP).

As previously reported, Tulungagung Regent Gatut Sunu Wibowo was caught in a sting operation by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Friday, April 10, 2026. He was brought to Jakarta on Saturday morning for intensive questioning at the KPK’s Red and White Building.

In addition to Gatut Sunu, 15 other people were caught in the KPK’s sting operation and are currently being questioned at the Tulungagung Police Headquarters. However, the KPK has not yet disclosed the identities of the 15 people arrested along with Gatut.

“Regent Gatut Sunu arrived at the KPK’s Red and White Building at around 6:50 a.m and immediately underwent intensive questioning,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo in a brief statement on Saturday, April 11, 2026. (Bembo)
