Shipment of 54 Tons of Black Rock Containing Galena Intercepted by the Polda Metro Jaya Special Criminal Investigation Directorate

A press conference held by the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Polda Metro Jaya regarding the case of a 54-ton shipment of black rock containing galena, which didn’t match its official documentation.
progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – A shipment of 54 tons of black rock containing the mineral galena (lead sulfide) was intercepted in the Pademangan area, North Jakarta, by the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Polda Metro Jaya. The shipment, which originated from Gorontalo, allegedly utilized documentation that falsely declared the cargo as candlenuts.
“The evidence consists of 54 tons of black rock, along with the shipping containers,” stated Kapolda Metro Jaya, Komjen Pol Dadang Hartanto, during a press conference at the Polda Metro Jaya headquarters on Friday, October 23, 2026.
The case was uncovered on September 18 and 19, 2026. A total of five individuals have been arrested for their alleged involvement in the shipment of the black rock.
“The five suspects each played a role in the loading, transport, logistics management, and ownership of the cargo,” said Kapolda Dadang.
Investigators discovered a discrepancy between the shipping documents and the actual cargo; the documents claimed the containers held candlenuts.
“Officers inspected the containers in Pademangan, North Jakarta, which had arrived from Gorontalo carrying black rock. It was discovered that the shipping documents did not match the contents—the documents listed the cargo as candlenuts, while the containers actually held black rock containing copper,” explained Kapolda Dadang.
At present, investigators are continuing their inquiry to determine the origin of the minerals and the intended recipients of the black rock. The Special Criminal Investigation Directorate confirmed that the investigation remains ongoing. (Bembo)
