Arema FC Hands Dewa United FC Their First Defeat in a 4-0 Rout with Careca Starring

Arema FC defeats Dewa United FC with a commanding 4-0 scoreline.

progresifjaya.co.id, MALANG – Arema FC secured a commanding 4-0 victory over Dewa United FC in a seventh-week match of the 2026/2027 Super League at Kanjuruhan Stadium, Malang Regency, East Java, on Sunday, October 25, 2026. Singo Edan forward Careca emerged as the star of the match, netting a brace.

The four goals for Arema FC came from Careca in the 30th and 50th minutes, followed by Samuel Otusanya (65′) and Julian Guevara (90+5′). This result also snaps a five-match winless streak for Singo Edan.

Despite facing a Dewa United FC side that dominated possession, Arema FC proved highly effective at capitalizing on their opportunities through rapid counter-attacks.

From the opening whistle, Dewa United FC took the initiative, pressing the Arema FC defense through the movement of their forward line.

In the seventh minute, Dewa United FC created a chance through Myeongseok following a corner kick. The pressure continued with opportunities for Noah Sadaoui and Denilson Pereira, but none resulted in a goal.

Arema FC opted for a disciplined defensive approach, relying on the pace of their wingers to launch counter-attacks.

This strategy paid off in the 30th minute. Careca received a pass from Gabi before unleashing a powerful strike into the top-left corner of the Dewa United FC goal, giving Arema FC a 1-0 lead.

The Banten Warriors sought to increase the pressure in search of an equalizer. Ryan Struick threatened the hosts’ defense, but his efforts proved fruitless.

At halftime, the score remained 1-0 in favor of Arema FC. Entering the second half, Arema FC immediately increased the intensity of their attacks. As a result, Careca added his name to the scoresheet once again in the 50th minute.

Following a cross from Vinicius, Careca connected with the ball via a header that was initially parried by the Dewa United goalkeeper. The referee first signaled for a corner kick; however, after a review via the Video Assistant Referee (VAR), it was determined that the ball had crossed the goal line. The goal was awarded, extending Arema FC’s lead to 2–0.

Trailing by two goals, Dewa United FC attempted to rally by increasing the pressure. Denilson had an opportunity in the 55th minute but failed to narrow the deficit.

Dewa United FC subsequently made substitutions to bolster their attacking force, yet these changes proved unable to break down Arema FC’s disciplined defense.

Instead, the hosts found the net again in the 65th minute through Samuel Otusanya. The forward, who had replaced Blade in the 63rd minute, made an immediate impact on Arema FC’s play.

The third goal originated from a swift counterattack down the left side of Dewa United FC’s defense. Vinicius delivered a pass to Otusanya, who was positioned advantageously.

With little difficulty, Otusanya converted the chance, bringing the score to 3–0.

Holding a three-goal lead did not cause Arema FC to ease off; the Singo Edan continued to capitalize on every opportunity to extend their advantage.

Meanwhile, Dewa United FC kept searching for a consolation goal. Ryan Struick had a chance in the 72nd minute but could not get the better of Arema FC goalkeeper Syahrul Fadillah.

As the match neared its conclusion, Arema FC made several substitutions to maintain their tactical balance. In the final moments, Arema FC scored once more through Julian Guevara in the 90+5th minute.

The goal stemmed from a free kick taken by Gustavo Franca just outside the penalty area. The ball was then redirected by Guevara, changing its trajectory and deceiving the Dewa United FC goalkeeper. The score moved to 4-0 and remained that way until the referee blew the final whistle.

This victory marks an important result for Arema FC, following their earlier struggles to secure three points at the start of the season.

Prior to the match, Arema sat in 12th place in the standings with six points. The three points gained from the win over Dewa United bring the Singo Edan total to nine.

Conversely, this heavy defeat comes as a blow to Dewa United FC, who had previously collected 14 points from six matches and held second place in the 2026/2027 Super League standings. (Bembo)
