45,02 Million Travelers Predicted to Travel to East Java, Ditlantas Polda of the East Java Deploys 16.326 Joint Security Personnel

Dirlantas Polda of the East Java, Kombes Pol Iwan Saktiadi.

progresifjaya.co.id, SURABAYA – East Java is one of the provinces with the highest number of homecoming travelers nationwide. Therefore, the Polda of the East JavaTraffic Directorate (Ditlantas) is very focused and serious about addressing this.

This year, an estimated 27,9 million travelers will arrive in East Java. Meanwhile, travelers from East Java alone are predicted to number 17,12 million. So, by calculation, an estimated 45,02 million travelers will travel to East Java during the Eid holiday.

The peak homecoming traffic will likely be divided into two waves. The first wave is predicted to occur on March 14-15. The second peak will be on March 18-19, 2026. Meanwhile, the peak of the return flow is predicted to be on March 24-25, 2026.

To anticipate this high mobility, the Ditlantas Polda of the East Java has deployed 16.326 joint personnel to secure Operation Ketupat Semeru 2026 for 13 days, from March 13-25, 2026.

These thousands of joint personnel consist of 9.609 National Police personnel, 1.313 Indonesian National Armed Forces personnel, and 5.404 personnel from other agencies, including Public Order Agency (Satpol PP), the Health Agency, and the Transportation Agency. All these personnel will be deployed to 238 posts (172 Pam Posts, 45 Yan Posts, and 21 Integrated Posts) across 20,097 locations.

In addition to anticipating the security of homecoming travelers, the Ditlantas Polda of the East Java and its associated Traffic Units are also conducting ramp checks on bus transportation in all regencies/cities. The physical condition of the bus and the complete administrative data regarding the vehicle and the bus company (PO) are checked to ensure its roadworthiness.

Moreover, buses are a reliable form of public transportation for long trips between cities and provinces during the Eid homecoming (mudik) holiday.

“Alhamdulillah, to date, we have not found any unroadworthy vehicles,” said Dirlantas Polda of the East Java, Kombes Pol Iwan Saktiadi, on Thursday, March 13, 2026.

Ramp checks will be conducted periodically. If a vehicle is found to be unroadworthy, each PO is required to make repairs or address any deficiencies.

In addition to ramp checks, the Ditlantas Polda of the East Java will also conduct checkpoints at the Bungurasih Sidoarjo Terminal, the Ngawi and Nganjuk rest areas. The checkpoints will be a combination of ramp checks and crew checks.

“Together with the Transportation Agency and the Regional Transportation Agency (BPTD), we will determine what is relevant between Nganjuk and Ngawi. This will include a combination of ramp checks and crew checks,” explained Kombes Pol Iwan. (Bembo)
