progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – The Kapolda Metro Jaya, Irjen Pol Asep Edi Suheri is probably smiling right now as he reads this narrative. Why not? The implementation of the “Jaga Jakarta” program, his flagship program as Metro 1, is now beginning to take shape. His emphatic statement regarding the obligation to collaborate and partner closely with all elements of society and the mass media during a recent gathering with journalists at the BPMJ served as a key indicator of the program’s manifestation.
Today, Monday, October 20, 2025, thousands of online motorcycle taxi (ojol) drivers from various communities across Jakarta, Bekasi, and Tangerang gathered at the National Monument (Monas) in Central Jakarta. They were there specifically to participate in the “Jaga Jakarta” roll call with the theme “Guarding Jakarta Together with the Polda Metro Jaya”.
During this roll call, thousands of these green-jacketed drivers also expressed their commitment to maintaining public order and security in the capital. They also pledged their readiness to partner with the Polri in maintaining public order and security (Kamtibmas) and actively spread positive messages on the streets.
The Head of Public Relations of the Polda Metro Jaya, Brigjen Pol Ade Ary Syam Indradi stated in an official statement that the “Jaga Jakarta” program can only be realized if accompanied by strong synergy between the police and the community. Without it, it would be impossible to create a safe and conducive environment in Jakarta and its surroundings.
“This activity demonstrates real synergy between the Polri and the ojol community to support the government’s program towards a safe, orderly, and dignified Jakarta. A safe and conducive public order and security situation cannot simply arise. There must be close collaboration between the police and the community,” explained the high-ranking officer, a Virgo, born in Sukabumi on September 10, 1976, from the Parama Satwika Battalion, Akpol 1998, to journalists.
He explained, that this close collaboration can be realized in various forms, from sharing information to establishing a neighborhood security system, at the RT, RW, housing cluster, and even specific neighborhood levels.
“We have also projected that if every individual is aware enough to quickly report potential disturbances to us, then these disturbances can automatically be prevented early,” said the husband of Amalia Christie.
To make these reports, Brigjen Pol Ade Ary continued, the Polda Metro Jaya consistently urges and reminds the public to utilize the 110 call center service. This three-digit service can be used at any time, free of charge, to report incidents or request police assistance in the field.
“110 is toll-free. Please call the public anytime if you need assistance or encounter a security disturbance. If you are in Depok, the Depok Polres will answer, and if you are in Bekasi, the Bekasi Polres,” he explained.
He also explained, that the Polda Metro Jaya Jakarta continues to motivate the public to actively develop a scheduled neighborhood security system. This scheduled neighborhood security system is a concrete manifestation of community participation in the security of their neighborhood. This includes neighborhood watch (siskamling), night patrols, CCTV installation, and coordination between residents when traveling or returning home.
“Criminals are professionals; they wait for our inattention. Therefore, with this participation, we are collectively eliminating opportunities for perpetrators to commit crimes,” said Brigjen Pol Ade Ary.
Furthermore, he added, communication between residents and authorities has now been strengthened through the establishment of community WhatsApp groups and Babinkamtibmas (community police officers). These communication groups play a vital role in conveying information and warnings to the public.
“Bhabinkamtibmas are now very active in providing information about rampant crimes, including their methods. This is done to increase public awareness and narrow the scope for criminals to operate within the community,” he further explained.
He added, that to strengthen synergy and foster closer ties with the community, the Polda Metro Jaya also has a “Caring Friday” program, which is regularly promoted. Through this program, the Polda Metro Jaya and its ranks strive to consistently demonstrate their commitment to the community by donating social assistance and holding community activities throughout its jurisdiction.
Because, once again, as stated by Kapolda Metro Kang Asep “Sniper,” the Polda Metro Jaya cannot operate alone. They must continuously improve themselves and prioritize a humanistic and responsive approach to community needs. Always remember and keep that in mind, Komandan. (Bembo)
