The Nation Shocks, Alvaro Found Dead After 8 Months Missing Only a Skeleton Found, and the Perpetrator Chose to Hang Himself

Head of Public Relations of the Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Bhudi Hermanto.

progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – The death of Alvaro Kiano Nugraha, a six-year-old boy who had been missing in Pesanggrahan, South Jakarta, since last March and was only found in November 2025, only a skeleton, has shocked the nation.

Even more shocking, the murderer, Alex Iskandar (49), who is none other than the victim’s stepfather, apparently chose to play it safe rather than accept the judge’s sentence. Alex was found hanging in the Counseling Room of the South Jakarta Polres Metro in the early hours of Sunday, (23/11).

The Head of Public Relations of the Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Bhudi Hermanto in his official statement regarding the death of the suspect, who was under police supervision and raised suspicions of human error stated, that the incident stemmed from the perpetrator’s strange reasoning for deciding to hang himself.

On Sunday morning, around 6:00 a.m. Western Indonesian Time (WIB), Kombes Pol Bhudi explained, that Alex Iskandar, who was in the counseling room at the time, asked officers for permission to change out of his soiled shorts (the detainee standard operating procedure) due to the urge to urinate. He requested permission to change into long pants.

Some time later, between 6:30 and 9:00 a.m. Western Indonesian Time (WIB), Alex was found hanged in the counseling room.

“The suspect was found by his colleague, identified as G, through a key witness who saw him through the door with the glass bar in the middle,” said Kombes Pol Bhudi.

He further explained, the reason for placing Alex in the counseling room rather than in his cell. He explained, that Alex had just been named a suspect after a lengthy interrogation that lasted until the early hours of the morning.

“Why in the counseling room? Because a medical examination will be conducted tomorrow morning to determine whether the suspect had any underlying or contagious diseases. Therefore, he cannot be placed with the other detainees inside,” Kombes Pol Budi explained logically.

Missing at the Mosque

The deceased victim, Alvaro Kiano Nugraha, and the deceased perpetrator, Alex Iskandar.

Now, back to the matter of Alvaro. The deceased boy was last seen at the Al Muflihun Grand Mosque in Bintaro, Pesanggrahan, South Jakarta, on Thursday, (6/3). At that time, a man claiming to be Alvaro’s father came to the mosque looking for the boy.

Alvaro’s grandfather, Tugimin, only learned of the man’s arrival from the mosque caretaker three days after his grandson was reported missing.

“Someone came. The marbut asked, ‘Sir, who are you looking for?’ ‘Looking for my son. Alvaro said he prays at this mosque.’ ‘His son is upstairs,’ the marbut said,” Tugimin said.

The caretaker didn’t notice the man who picked up Alvaro because he was busy preparing for breaking the fast and Maghrib Prayer. After Maghrib, Alvaro apparently hadn’t returned home. However, Tugimin wasn’t immediately suspicious, as his grandson usually played soccer at night.

“I realized i needed to look for him at 9:30 PM WIB. ‘Why isn’t my grandson home yet? Where is he?’ I told the caretaker,” said Tugimin.

A retired Lebak Bulus firefighter, Tugimin then searched the area where his grandson was last seen and questioned Alvaro’s playmates. But to no avail.

Tugimin stated that Alvaro’s biological father was serving time for a drug case at Cipinang Prison. His mother worked in Malaysia.

“Alvaro’s mother and father are separated. And his mother has another husband, Alex Iskandar. They were officially married at the Pesanggrahan District Office of Religious Affairs,” Tugimin added. (Bembo)
