Interestingly in 2025 in West Java, Criminal Cases Increased by 2% at the Polda West Java, Social Stability Remained Safe and the Number of Accidents Decreased

progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – A total of 38.520 criminal cases were recorded at the Polda West Java throughout 2025. This represents a 2% increase, representing an increase of 883 crime cases compared to the 37.637 crime cases in 2024.
However, interestingly, the 2% increase in crime cases is not a complete reflection of the total number of crimes that occurred. In general, the figure of 38.520 represents the cumulative number of criminal cases summarized throughout the year. However, if a specific perspective is used, the resulting understanding and interpretation may differ due to the classification analysis.
Kapolda West Java Irjen Pol Rudi Setiawan explained this during the 2025 Year-End Release (RAT) at Polda West Java Headquarters on Monday, December 29, 2025.
He stated, that the 2% increase in the accumulated number of criminal cases in 2025 was still within reasonable limits. This increase was also predominantly contributed by conventional crimes, which are considered old-school in style and appearance.
“A total of 21.046 were general criminal cases and 406 were special criminal cases. Drugs also contributed 3.482 cases, and another 156 were the work of the Cyber Investigation Directorate (Ditressiber),” said Kapolda Rudi Setiawan in his explanation.

Although the overall figures have increased, Kapolda Rudi continued, the classification of transnational crime cases and those with contingency implications has actually decreased drastically. Cross-border crimes involving more than one country involved only twelve cases in the year. A significant decrease also occurred in the classification of cases with contingency implications, such as communal conflict and thuggery.
“So, it can be concluded that the cumulative increase is not a true reflection of the widespread crime in society. Instead, it can be interpreted intelligently as a demonstration of the effectiveness of cross-sector prevention and enforcement efforts,” said Kapolda Rudi emphatically.
“And from a contrario, or logical reasoning, this understanding is actually quite impressive. It’s very smart and wise. Very cool. Not everybody has such a sharp and intelligent contrario. We have to be fair and admit it, He added trying to broaden the horizons of all participants of the year-end release with a smile,” He added, trying to broaden the horizons of all participants of the year-end release with a smile.” he added trying to broaden the horizons of all participants of the year-end release with a smile.
He also explained, that the smart and high-quality translation he meant was the result of effective performance by intelligence personnel when engaging in double-dealing, both in the form of prevention and cross-sectoral enforcement. It must also be remembered, Kapolda Rudi continued, that such a style can only be implemented if a strong intelligence force has been established to conduct regional surveillance.
“This also proves that the social stability in West Java is relatively well maintained and the situation is felt to be secure. Alhamdulillah,” said Kapolda Rudi.
“And we must all understand that security is a shared responsibility. It doesn’t belong solely to the police, but also to the entire community. Deal,” he continued, encouraging all participants attending the year-end press conference.

After explaining criminal cases and technical guidance on how to understand them from a specific and unusual perspective, Kapolda Rudi also shared the good news about the significant decrease in traffic accident numbers in 2025. This achievement was also highlighted by the Polda West Java during the year-end evaluation and was also appreciated as an achievement.
Based on data collected by the Polda West Java Traffic Directorate throughout 2025, there were 2.184 fatalities due to traffic accidents. This is a decrease of 1.225 people, or a 36% decrease compared to 2024, which reached 3.409 people.
Interestingly, although the fatality classification has decreased, the number of accidents has actually increased, albeit slightly.
“Yes, this is one of the unique things about West Java. Fatalities decreased, but the number of accidents increased slightly, reaching 9.016 incidents throughout 2025. Well, the most important thing is how we can reduce fatalities. That’s the main point. This achievement must be maintained and improved upon in 2026. Okay,” Kapolda Rudi said politely, using his deductions at the end of his explanation. (Bembo)
