Two pickpocketing suspects apprehended during the Car Free Day event.

progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA — Two pickpocketing suspects were arrested by personnel from the Directorate of Vital Object Security (Ditpamobvit) of the Polda Metro Jaya during the Car Free Day (CFD) event at the Hotel Indonesia Roundabout on Sunday morning, January 4, 2026.

The two pickpockets were apprehended by officers from the Tourism Sub-Directorate led by Kompol Mulyadi, who were conducting a dialogue-based foot patrol along the CFD arena. Upon receiving information from the public regarding the alleged pickpocketing by two individuals, they immediately began monitoring visitors.

As a result, the two suspects were immediately apprehended without resistance. To avoid crowding and maintain a conducive situation, the two were immediately taken to a safer location for initial questioning.

The two suspects, along with the evidence, were then handed over to the local police for further legal proceedings.

The Director of the Vital Objects Security Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Joko Sulistio, stated in a statement, that his team is committed to always providing a sense of security and comfort to the public engaging in activities in public spaces, especially during the Car Free Day event, which is regularly held every weekend.

“The safety and comfort of the public engaging in activities in public spaces is our priority,” said Kombes Pol Joko.

Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations for the Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Bhudi Hermanto added, that his team continues to encourage the public to use the 110 emergency call center service if they need police assistance.

“The 110 service is accessible to the public 24 hours to report crimes and emergencies. The goal is to ensure officers can respond promptly in the field,” said Kombes Pol Bhudi. (Bembo)
