Kasat Lantas Polrestabes Surabaya City: “One Car in South Surabaya Hit-and-Run Crash Still Being Sought, Case Investigation Transparent”

Head of the Surabaya City Polrestabes Traffic Unit, AKBP Galih Baru Raditya.
progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – The hit-and-run crash involving a sedan and a cement mixer truck, which resulted in the death of Rusmiati on Jalan Diponegoro, South Surabaya, on October 3, 2025, has resurfaced. The Surabaya City Polrestabes Traffic Unit’s pending investigation, along with the lack of suspect status for the cement mixer truck driver, Syamsul Huda, has disappointed Sunggul Purba, the victim’s husband, and raised further skewed suspicions.
Regarding this, Kapolrestabes of the Surabaya City, Kombes Pol Luthfie Sulistiawan, through the Head of the Surabaya City Polrestabes Traffic Unit (Kasat Lantas), AKBP Galih Bayu Raditya stated, that his office has always been transparent in handling this case. He also stated, that Syamsul Huda, the cement mixer truck driver, has not been named a suspect because legal evidence has not yet been found.
“According to statements from witnesses at the scene, including the parking attendant, none of them indicated that the victim, Rusmiati, was physically hit or hit by the cement mixer truck. The victim was indeed in front of the truck, but witness accounts indicate that the incident began when the victim attempted to overtake a vehicle before being hit by the fleeing car, which we are still tracking. The victim, Rusmiati, was hit and thrown onto the asphalt in the cement mixer truck lane. That’s the valid incident based on witness statements at the scene,” explained AKBP Galih Bayu Raditya, attempting to clarify the incident with the author on Friday evening, February 13, 2026.
Personally, he fully understands the disappointment felt by Sunggul Purba, the husband of the late Rusmiati, who was the victim of a hit-and-run and died. However, as an investigator in the case, his team is also being very careful in conducting the investigation. The whereabouts of the first car that hit the victim before fleeing are still being sought, despite minimal leads.
“We also need to clarify that the CCTV was present after the crime scene. However, the CCTV’s FOV (Field of View), or the distance captured by the camera sensor, is far from clear. The vehicle’s license plate is also invisible. It seems we will need to collaborate with the Criminal Investigation Unit to obtain legal guidance to recover the car. Please be patient as we await the results of our collaboration with the Criminal Investigation Unit,” explained AKBP Galih Bayu Raditya, again attempting to clarify.
As a first step to reassure the victim’s family, AKBP Galih Bayu Raditya stated that his team will again summon Sunggul Purba, the victim’s husband.
He will be explained in detail all the efforts taken by the Surabaya Police Traffic Unit investigators in handling this case. This effort also serves as a preventative measure by the Surabaya City Polrestabes Traffic Unit to prevent the potential for the emergence of baseless, wild information about this case. (Bembo)
