progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – The Boston Celtics defeated the Philadelphia 76ers 114-98 at home at TD Garden in Boston on Sunday, March 1, 2026, US time. Boston’s first game in March marked their 40th win of the season. Neemias Queta delivered a superb performance for the Boston Celtics, posting a double-double with 27 points and 17 rebounds. Jaylen Brown scored 27 points, and Derrick White contributed 21 points and 8 assists.

The Boston Celtics entered this game fresh off a 37-point victory over the Brooklyn Nets on Friday night. Starting lineups included Baylor Scheierman, who started with a heavily bandaged broken thumb, followed by White, Queta, Brown, and Sam Hauser. Meanwhile, the Philadelphia 76ers started with VJ Edgecombe, Tyrese Maxey, Kelly Oubre Jr., Andre Drummond, and Dominick Barlow.

The Sixers scored their first three points of the game and immediately took an 8-2 lead. But Hauser hit a three-pointer to narrow the gap to three points. Boston tied the game at 10-10, with Queta being active early, scoring five points.

Brown then threw down a spectacular two-handed dunk, rousing the crowd in the six-and-a-half minute. Hugo Gonzalez, Payton Pritchard, and Nikola Vucevic were the first three Boston Celtics players to come off the bench after the first television break. Vucevic hit a three-pointer from the corner for the first time in the game. But the 76ers took an early eight-point lead, 23-15, thanks to shooting 60% from three-point range early in the game. Maxey led the visitors with eight points in the first eight minutes.

Jordan Walsh entered the game as a defensive player and was immediately tasked with guarding Maxey. But the Boston Celtics shot just 5 of 21 from the field early in the first quarter as the 76ers extended their lead to double digits. Walsh hit a three-pointer after Queta grabbed his fifth offensive rebound against the 76ers’ smaller front.

White scored inside to narrow the deficit to just 2 points. Adem Bona fouled Brown as Brown attempted a layup. Brown had a chance to tie the game with 27 seconds left in the quarter. Boston then went on a 7-0 run late in the quarter to close the gap to 2 points heading into the second quarter, 26-28.

Hauser then hit his second three-pointer early in the second quarter. White hit two free throws as Boston took its first lead after trailing the entire first quarter, 32-30. Queta continued to dominate offensive rebounds, the towering star scoring eight unanswered points with 16 points and 10 rebounds with seven minutes remaining in the second quarter.

Derrick White then hit his first three-pointer of the night. He deftly repositioned his feet on the perimeter to jump and shoot past an unguarded Oubre Jr. Brown threw a lightning-quick one-handed pass to Hugo, who caught the ball and scored through the backboard in one motion without dribbling. Boston’s second-quarter surge gave them a 10-point lead as they outscored the 76ers 25-13 with just over two minutes left in the first half.

Brown then threw a cross-court pass to White, who immediately hit an unguarded three-pointer to give Boston a 54-45 lead. Drummond received a technical foul for making a pistol-like gesture.

Queta led the Boston Celtics at halftime with 16 points, Brown had 15, and White had 12. Scheierman hit a three-pointer from the corner just before the buzzer and lifted his broken thumb to end the half with a 62-50 lead.

Chants of “Let’s go, Celtics!” echoed through TD Garden as the third quarter began. Edgecombe hit a three-pointer and was fouled by White, who then made the extra point. The 76ers then went on an 8-0 run to cut the lead to 10 points.

The Boston Celtics then launched three consecutive three-pointers. First, Scheierman hit a three-pointer in front of Nick Nurse and the Sixers bench, Vooch hit a straight three-pointer, and White hit a three-pointer to give Boston a 15-point lead, 80-65.

But the 76ers quickly closed the gap to 8 when Edgecombe hit his fourth three-pointer of the night, followed by Maxey’s transition layup. Walsh then hit a three-pointer near the end of the third quarter, and Maxey responded with a three-pointer of his own for his 26th point. The 76ers got back in the game down by six points. The Boston Celtics led 89-83.

The 76ers staged another comeback early in the fourth quarter, but the Celtics held their nerve. Vucevic hit a three-pointer to cut the deficit, allowing Boston to maintain a 10-point lead with eight minutes remaining. The 76ers’ guard duo of Edgecombe and Maxey provided a solid one-two punch as they held on.

Jaylen Brown hit a second three-pointer for his 27th of the night, and Boston kept the 76ers within a point with five minutes remaining. Oubre Jr. passed the ball from behind to Queta and was fouled hard, as the 76ers ran out of time to mount a comeback for the win. Pritchard was particularly poor in this game—he didn’t score for four quarters and even dropped the ball from his feet.

Edgecombe and Maxey led the 76ers back into the game late in the game, and Boston’s lead dwindled to 6 points with just over three minutes remaining. The momentum shifted back to the visitors. Queta hustled in the paint to grab a loose ball and score past two 76ers.

Queta finished the game in style, scoring 27 points and grabbing a career-best 17 rebounds as the Boston Celtics won at home and improved to a 40-20 record for the season.

The Boston Celtics will next face the Milwaukee Bucks tomorrow night at home at 7:30 p.m. US Time. (Bembo)
