Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad.
progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – The discovery of maggots in one of the National Nutritional Meal (MBG) menus in Bandung Regency during Ramadan has drawn the attention of the Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad. He promised to provide input to the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) regarding the implementation of MBG during Ramadan.
In the Greater Bandung area, West Java, the provision of MBG during Ramadan drew criticism due to protests from parents who claimed maggots were found in the MBG menu. Other MBG menu items, such as sponge cake and orange juice, were also found to be unsuitable. Some contained only half a portion of boiled potatoes and mangosteen.
“If you’re asking about MBG, i’m in the legislature. But this input has been submitted by the Technical Commission to the MBG to make improvements and evaluations,” Sufmi Dasco told the media in Bandung on Friday, March 6, 2026.
He also stated, that the relevant commissions in the House of Representatives (DPR) continue to monitor how the MBG program is running during Ramadan. However, he continued, many MBG kitchens are also making an impact during this holy month.
“We are calculating the percentage of complaints and the percentage of MBG kitchens that are deemed appropriate. We are also monitoring the many kitchens that provide benefits to users,” he added. (Bembo)
