progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – The Polri’s security services for the Eid al-Fitr 1447 H homecoming and return traffic in 2026 were deemed successful and smooth. This was evidenced by the smooth flow of traffic both upstream and downstream. The number of accidents also decreased, and passenger movement across various modes of transportation increased.
Based on the analysis and evaluation (ANEV) results, the number of traffic accidents during the period from March 13 to 29, 2026, decreased by 6,31 percent compared to the 2025 Eid al-Fitr period. Fatalities also decreased significantly by 31,19 percent. Serious injuries decreased by 13,8 percent. However, minor injuries increased by 3,38 percent.
Meanwhile, the volume of vehicles leaving Jakarta reached 3.255.002 units, an 18,43 percent increase compared to normal conditions. Meanwhile, 2.989.931 vehicles entered Jakarta, representing a 10,79 percent increase. Of the projected total, approximately 7,7 percent of vehicles have not yet left Jakarta, and 11,9 percent have not yet returned to the capital.
To support the smooth flow of traffic during the homecoming and return journeys, the Polri have implemented various traffic engineering measures. Traffic has been diverted 205 times, contraflow 39 times, local one-way routes 39 times, and national one-way routes twice.
Furthermore, public transportation passenger movement has also increased across all modes of transportation. The increase was 11,41 percent at terminals, 8,06 percent at stations, 6,99 percent at airports, and 15,51 percent at seaports.
The Head of the Polri Public Relations Division, Irjen Pol Johnny Eddizon Isir stated in his explanation, that these achievements were achieved thanks to the hard work of all parties involved in securing the homecoming journey.
“The security and service implementation for the 2026 Eid al-Fitr homecoming (mudik) went well overall. This is evident in the decline in traffic accidents and the increase in public mobility, which was served safely and smoothly,” said Irjen Pol Johnny Eddizon Isir.
This success, he continued, is due to various government incentives, such as discounts on toll fees and public transportation, additional fleets, the free mudik program, the work-from-anywhere (WFA) policy, and traffic regulations through a Joint Decree (SKB).
Irjen Pol Johnny Eddizon Isir stated, that this year’s mudik security involved 161.243 joint personnel, consisting of 89.928 police personnel, 13.788 military personnel, and 58.327 personnel from other agencies. They have successfully secured 185.608 security targets throughout Indonesia.
Furthermore, the Polri is maximizing the use of real-time data-based technology through a command center, supported by ETLE Drone Patrol Precision, Traffic Accident Analysis (TAA), and Road Accident Rescue (RAR) to improve security and service effectiveness.
Various public service innovations, such as the 2026 Polri Precision Free Homecoming program, were also introduced, with 29,009 travelers participating. This program was supported by 646 buses, 9 boats, and other vehicles. Furthermore, the Polri also offers services such as a roadside patrol team, public address, Motor Senyum (Smile Motorcycle) at the Polda of the West Java, valet rides and SI Polan (Police Information System) at the Polda of the Central Java, and the Siger application at the Polda of the Lampung.
The Head of Public Relations Division emphasized, that Polri will continue to evaluate its efforts to improve service quality in the future. The success of this homecoming and return flow management program is the result of synergy between all stakeholders and the full support of the public.
“We will remain committed to improving services that are more optimal, humane, and technology-based,” added Irjen Pol Johnny Eddizon Isir. (Bembo)
