Kapolri, Jenderal Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo, reviews disaster preparedness in the Special Region of Yogyakarta Province at the Polda Yogyakarta Mobile Brigade Unit.
progresifjaya.co.id, DIY – Kapolri, Jenderal Pol Listyo Sigit, directly inspected the disaster response preparedness of the Special Region of Yogyakarta Province at the Polda Yogyakarta Mobile Brigade Unit (Satbrimobda). He also reviewed the maximum readiness of all personnel and infrastructure, including land and sea search and rescue equipment, and ensured that areas affected by landslides and collapsed buildings are optimally utilized to provide excellent service to the public.
“Alhamdulillah, today i directly inspected the Yogyakarta Province’s readiness for potential disasters. This is the umpteenth time i have inspected several areas to ensure that all stakeholders, including the TNI, the Polri, and all institutions involved in disaster management, are fully prepared to mobilize,” said Kapolri Listyo Sigit on Friday, (21/11).
He stated, that the Polri, along with relevant agencies, are highly vigilant regarding the potential for a Mount Merapi eruption. Therefore, he requested intensive outreach and dissemination of reliable information to ensure public safety.
“As reported by the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), Mount Merapi is currently erupting daily. Therefore, disaster response must be continuously disseminated to ensure the public is updated daily with information,” explained Kapolri Listyo Sigit.
“So that when evacuations are necessary, the public is already informed. We hope that information regarding when to evacuate, the direction to which direction to go, and what equipment to bring will all be well-disseminated,” he added.
Kapolri Listyo Sigit also stated, that addressing potential natural disasters throughout Indonesia requires close collaboration and synergy from all stakeholders. This is especially true with the Christmas and New Year (Nataru) preparation period approaching.
“We are facing a fairly heavy rainy season. Therefore, strong cooperation and collaboration are needed. This will ensure that people in all disaster-prone areas remain safe during the Christmas and New Year homecoming holiday season, as our SAR teams are all ready,” he added.
For your information, according to the BMKG (Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency) report, the rainy season, accompanied by a weak La Nina storm cycle, has entered from October to January. Meanwhile, rainfall in November is predicted to be above normal. This makes predictions of potential natural disasters such as floods, landslides, and others possible. But all of this has been anticipated. Slowly, bro. (Bembo)
