Milwaukee Bucks forward, Giannis Antetokounmpo is a top target for the Boston Celtics.
progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – The Boston Celtics are increasingly being linked to Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo in trade rumors. NBA expert Marc Stein has provided an update on their chances of winning the race to acquire the player.
“I’ve heard similar things from several different teams since the Chicago draft. The Miami Heat and Boston Celtics are increasingly being considered as potential trade destinations, with the current—underscore—most interest in Milwaukee’s Giannis Antetokounmpo,” Stein wrote on Monday, May 25, 2026.
Meanwhile, NBA expert Shams Charani believes the Boston Celtics tried to acquire Giannis Antetokounmpo in a trade before the trade deadline and are expected to pursue him again this offseason.
The 7-foot-12 two-time MVP is indeed one of the best players in the NBA and would certainly fill a need for the Boston Celtics.
Following the season, Boston Celtics President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens also emphasized the team’s need to improve their basket-to-ball capabilities.
“My general feeling from watching our play in the last two playoff rounds — the second round against the New York Knicks, and even against the Orlando Magic in the first round (last year) — is that we struggled to create good shots on the first shot,” Stevens said in a press conference on May 6, 2026.
“So, we have to figure out how to do better in that regard. And I think one of the things we have to figure out is how to have a bigger impact near the basket. And I think we do need to add players to our team to do that.”
Giannis Antetokounmpo himself won’t come cheap, and it’s highly likely the Boston Celtics will sacrifice Jaylen Brown. A third team might also need to get involved if the Milwaukee Bucks don’t want Jaylen Brown.
It’s also assumed that Giannis Antetokounmpo wants to play for a team with championship potential in the Eastern Conference. The Boston Celtics fit that category.
