progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – The Polri Traffic Corps (Korlantas Polri) is further strengthening its synergy with the online motorcycle taxi (ojol) community to foster a culture of road safety among the public.

This effort was evident when the Head of the Polri Traffic Corps, Irjen Pol Wibowo, received a delegation from the National Online Motorcycle Taxi Community at the Corps’ Traffic Management Center (NTMC) on Tuesday, August 11, 2026.

During the meeting, Irjen Pol Wibowo urged ojol drivers not merely to act as road users, but to take on the role of partners in road safety.

Moreover, ojol drivers are considered to hold a strategic position, as they operate on the roads almost daily and interact directly with the public.

“Beyond being transport workers, ojol drivers are also the face of public service due to their frequent interactions with the community. Much like us—where the traffic division represents the most visible and frontline function of the police force—they play a similar role,” said Irjen Pol Wibowo.

According to him, the drivers’ field experience can greatly assist the police in gathering information regarding various conditions and incidents that require attention.

He also reminded the drivers to utilize the 110 hotline service or visit the nearest police post whenever they encounter or learn of events requiring police presence.

“The Kapolri has established the 110 hotline. If you wish to provide any information, please feel free to channel it through the 110 hotline or the nearest police post,” he stated.

Beyond assisting with information sharing, ojol drivers were also asked to become pioneers of safety by prioritizing security while working.

This safety extends to themselves, their passengers, the goods they transport, and other road users.

“Our hope for the future is that our ojol colleagues can become pioneers—partners in road safety—at the very least for themselves and their fellow drivers,” Irjen Pol Wibowo expressed. 

He emphasized, that the collaboration between the Korlantas Polri and ojol communities must be further strengthened so that drivers can contribute more significantly to fostering a culture of orderly and safe traffic behavior.

The spirit of “Semua Karena Kita” (It’s All Because of Us) is also expected to serve as a shared foundation for strengthening collaboration across all segments of society to improve traffic safety in Indonesia.

Dianton, Chairman of the Nusantara Online Motorcycle Taxi Association, warmly welcomed the Traffic Corps’ initiative to establish communication and collaboration with online motorcycle taxi communities.

He noted, that this meeting marked the association’s third visit to the Traffic Corps headquarters. Currently, the association has expanded its reach to between 22 and 24 provinces, with 2.477 registered members across Indonesia.

Dianton emphasized, that the association was founded with the specific aim of encouraging online motorcycle taxi drivers to contribute to traffic safety.

“Our goal from the very beginning has been to serve as ambassadors and pioneers of traffic safety. Our members in the field have already carried out numerous activities with a direct impact, such as safety riding initiatives and first aid training,” he stated.

The association is now awaiting further directives from the Traffic Corps before making an official declaration. Following the declaration, they have expressed their readiness to play a larger role in supporting police duties, particularly in ensuring the safety of road users. (Bembo)
