Sufmi Dasco: “Protecting Women Requires First Strengthening the Institutions That Support Them”

progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) Sufmi Dasco Ahmad held a discussion on women’s protection with the Chairperson of the National Commission on Violence Against Women (Komnas Perempuan), Maria Ulfah Anshor, and members of DPR RI Commission XIII at the Nusantara III Building, Senayan, Jakarta, on the morning of Friday, September 18, 2026. Sufmi Dasco holds the view that protecting women requires first strengthening the institutions that support them.
“Protecting women requires strong institutions and regulations that provide certainty,” wrote Sufmi Dasco on his personal Instagram account, @sufmi_dasco, on Friday, September 18, 2026.
He also noted, that they discussed strengthening the institutional status of Komnas Perempuan, including a proposal for it to become a standalone work unit, as well as the reinforcement of regulations regarding women’s protection.
“DPR RI will coordinate these various inputs in accordance with its authority and established institutional processes,” said Sufmi Dasco. (Bembo)
