progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA — The Chairman of House Commission III, Habiburokhman, has urged the Polda Metro Jaya to take firm action regarding the case of a woman who was kicked by a man in the Senayan City Mall area, Central Jakarta. He emphasized that violence against women in public spaces cannot be tolerated and that the legal process must be conducted fairly and transparently.

Habiburokhman also commended the swift action taken by the Polda Metro Jaya in arresting the man suspected of the assault.

“We appreciate the rapid response of the Polda Metro Jaya in successfully arresting the perpetrator who kicked a woman in the Senayan City area, Jakarta. The speed and precision with which the police responded to public concern deserve our praise,” said Habiburokhman in a written statement cited on Monday, September 21, 2026.

According to Habiburokhman, the Polda Metro Jaya must handle the case without compromise. He stated that the perpetrator should not receive any special treatment during the legal proceedings.

“We urge the Polda Metro Jaya to process the perpetrator legally without compromise. Acts of violence against women in public spaces cannot be tolerated,” he asserted.

“The suspect must not receive any special treatment or privileges while the legal process is underway. The law must be enforced fairly and transparently, without exception,” he added.

Furthermore, Habiburokhman highlighted the issue of publicizing the suspect’s identity. He requested that the Polda Metro Jaya’s General Criminal Investigation Directorate apply the same procedures to this perpetrator as they do to suspects in other criminal cases.

“If standard procedures for similar cases involve exposing the suspect’s face to the public, then this perpetrator’s face must also be exposed,” he said.

The Deputy Chairman of the Gerindra Party also assured, that House Commission III would continue to monitor the handling of the case until the legal process is concluded.

This oversight, he noted, aims to ensure the victim receives justice and to create a deterrent effect against perpetrators of similar violence in public spaces.

“Commission III of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) will continue to monitor this case to ensure the victim receives true justice and to create a deterrent effect for future perpetrators of similar acts of violence,” he reiterated. (Bembo)
