Polda Metro Jaya Public Relations Chief: “Brutal Train Collision Investigation Moved to Investigation”

progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – The Polda Metro Jaya revealed the latest news on the investigation into the brutal collision between the Argo Bromo Anggrek long-distance train and the Commuter Line train at East Bekasi Station. The case has now been moved to the investigation stage.
This statement was made directly by the Head of Public Relations of the Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Bhudi Hermanto to the media at Monas, Central Jakarta, on Thursday, April 30, 202. He stated, that the legal status was moved to the investigation stage after investigators gathered initial evidence. Several witnesses have also been questioned.
“This case has moved to the investigation stage. We have conducted a crime scene investigation, questioned witnesses, and collected evidence, including CCTV footage,” said Kombes Pol Bhudi.
Investigators have currently questioned 24 witnesses to further investigate the case. Seven other individuals with key roles in train operations were also questioned today. These included officers from the Train Operations Control Center (Pusdalops), the Transportation Management Unit (PPKA), the signalman, the KRL driver, the Argo Bromo Anggrek train driver, the assistant driver, and the flight controller.
“The investigation is still ongoing in Manggarai. A total of 24 witnesses have been questioned. Seven more people are being questioned today,” he explained.
The police, added Kombes Pol Bhudi, have also partnered with the Polri Headquarters Forensic Laboratory Center (Puslabfor) to investigate the cause of the accident. One of the factors being investigated is the possibility of technical problems, including the impact of the electrical or signal systems at the scene.
Meanwhile, the online taxi driver, Green SM with the initials RRP, who was involved in the incident, remains a witness. Based on the investigation, the driver was only working as a driver on April 25, 2026, a few days before the incident.
“Based on statements from online taxi drivers who have been questioned, the person concerned had only been working since April 25, 2026, so only a few days before the incident. He had already completed one day of training,” said Kombes Pol Bhudi.
The police will also investigate the operational systems and recruitment standards of the online taxi company Green SM. This is to determine whether there was any negligence in the driver recruitment and training process.
Investigators are still gathering additional information and evidence to determine who was responsible for the fatal incident. Kombes Pol Bhudi stated, that the case will be handled professionally and transparently.
“We will provide further developments after the results of the investigation and case conference,” he concluded.
As a reminder, the fatal incident involving the Argo Bromo Anggrek train, which collided with a Commuter Line train at East Bekasi Station, occurred on Monday evening, April 27, 2026. Sixteen people died and 90 others were injured.
Before the fatal incident, a Green SM taxi had stopped on the train tracks near East Bekasi Station due to a short circuit. The taxi, driven by RPP, was then hit by a commuter train traveling from Cikarang towards Jakarta. The commuter train involved in the accident with the taxi then stopped on the tracks.
Meanwhile, a Cikarang-bound commuter train was stopped at East Bekasi Station due to the incident between the Jakarta-bound commuter train and the Green SM taxi. This commuter train was then brutally struck by the Argo Bromo Anggrek train traveling from Jakarta towards Pasar Turi Surabaya.
