Polda Metro Jaya’s General Crimes Directorate, Kombes Pol Iman Imanuddin, and the street crime suspects apprehended by the Polda Metro Jaya.

progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – The Polda Metro Jaya, through the Robbery Hunters Task Force, have arrested 173 suspects from 870 street crime cases. The suspects are now in custody and face prison sentences ranging from 7 to 15 years.

The Director of Criminal Investigation at the Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Iman Imanuddin explained in a statement, that 100 of the arrested suspects are from Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek) and the rest are from outside the Greater Jakarta area. They are currently under investigation, and investigators have prepared four articles to charge them.

“Article 476 and Article 306 of the Criminal Code, Law Number 1 of 2026. Then, Article 477 carries a maximum penalty of 7 years’ imprisonment, Article 479 carries a maximum penalty of 9 years’ imprisonment, and Article 306 of the Criminal Code carries a maximum penalty of 15 years’ imprisonment. We ensure that the entire legal process is carried out professionally, transparently, and accountably,” explained Kombes Pol Iman at the Polda Metro Jaya Headquarters, Friday, May 22, 2026.

He stated, that during May 2026, the police recorded 1.283 reports of street crimes. These included 651 cases of aggravated theft, 396 reports of ordinary theft, 209 reports of motor vehicle theft, and 27 reports of theft with violence.

“Of these total reports, we have successfully uncovered 870 crime scenes within the Polda Metro Jaya jurisdiction. There are still 413 cases in the process of being solved,” said Kombes Pol Iman.

 “And of the 173 suspects we have forcibly apprehended, 38 were arrested by the Polda Metro Jaya’s General Crimes Directorate’s Robbery Team. The remaining 135 suspects were apprehended by police officers within the Polda Metro Jaya’s jurisdiction,” he added.

Of the 870 street crime cases that have been intercepted, the Robbery Task Force has also successfully collected 466 pieces of evidence. These include 84 mobile phones, 69 motorcycles, four-wheeled vehicles, laptops, and eight firearms and ammunition.

“We also seized the T-shaped wrench used by the perpetrators, as well as 45 sharp weapons used by the perpetrators in their crimes. We also seized 240 other pieces of evidence, including clothing, CCTV footage, and other items of evidence from the perpetrators’ crimes,” he explained.
