progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA — The National Police Commission (Kompolnas) fully supports the Polda Metro Jaya’s efforts to eradicate street crime. This support was given after Polda Metro Jaya, along with its regional police, uncovered 127 street crime cases between May 1 and 22, 2026.
This was conveyed by Kompolnas Commissioner, Irjen Pol (Ret.) Ida Oetari Poernamasasi, in a press conference at Polda Metro Jaya on Friday, May 22, 2026. Ida also stated, that Kompolnas actively monitors police activities, including cases of public concern.
“Kompolnas wants to ensure that law enforcement against suspects continues to uphold applicable regulations. The legal process must be professional, measured, and respectful of human rights,” Ida said.
She also emphasized, that firm action against perpetrators must adhere to legal provisions. She stated that the use of force in police actions must be guided by applicable regulations, including Kapolri Regulation Number 1 of 2009.
According to her, action against street crime perpetrators is necessary to provide a sense of security to the public. However, the entire process must remain proportional and accountable.
Furthermore, she highlighted the handling of child suspects. Ida requested that the legal process for children in conflict with the law continue to adhere to child protection mechanisms and involve relevant functions, including the Women and Children Protection Unit (PPA).
“This is important to ensure, especially if there are suspects who are still children. The process must comply with child protection provisions,” she said.
Furthermore, Ida also encouraged the Polda Metro Jaya to continue taking sustainable steps to suppress street crime. This, she continued, must be done through prevention, patrols, and consistent law enforcement.
Ida also encouraged the public to play an active role in providing information to the police if they become aware of potential disturbances to public order and security. Public reports can be submitted through the 110 service or official police channels.
“Patrols also need to be carried out continuously, not only in terms of quantity, but also through dialogue so that the public feels close to the police,” he said.
Ida hopes, that the synergy between the Polda Metro Jaya, the community, and the local government can continue to be strengthened to maintain environmental security.
“We thank the Polda Metro Jaya and its ranks, down to the sub-district police stations (Polsek) who have taken these steps. This is a focus for the Kompolnas,” he added.
