The suspect initials SMA involved in the murder of a woman at Hotel Mustika, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, was arrested by the Violent Crimes Unit of the Polda Metro Jaya General Criminal Investigation Directorate.

progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – A man identified by the initials SMA, suspected of killing a woman whose body was found at Hotel Mustika in Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, has been arrested by the Violent Crimes Unit (Subdit Jatanras) of the Polda Metro Jaya. SMA was apprehended on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at approximately 09:50 WIB.

In a circulating video, officers from the Polda Metro Jaya Violent Crimes Unit are seen apprehending the suspect at a house. Officers ordered the suspect to remain still before handcuffing him.

Officers then instructed the suspect to produce the clothing he had worn while committing the murder in Tanah Abang. Subsequently, the suspect was placed in a vehicle and taken to the Polda Metro Jaya headquarters.

Preliminary investigations suggest the murder was triggered by a verbal altercation.

“The motive for this murder was a verbal dispute between the perpetrator and the victim, during which the perpetrator killed the victim by strangulation,” said AKBP Abdul Rahim, Head of the Violent Crimes Unit at the Polda Metro Jaya General Criminal Investigation Directorate, speaking to the media on Monday, September 14, 2026.

He explained, that the suspect, a resident of Tangerang Regency, had altered his identity to evade police capture. The suspect also frequently changed locations to avoid the authorities following the murder.

“While on the run, the suspect used a false identity, attempted to destroy evidence, and moved between locations to deceive officers,” stated AKBP Rahim.

The victim, identified as Intan Rahmania (19) a resident of Ciampea, Bogor Regency, West Java, was found dead in Room 304 of Hotel Mustika, Kebon Kacang, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, on Saturday, September 12, 2026. (Bembo)
