progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – Wakapolri Komjen Pol Dedi Prasetyo’s statement, admitting that the Polri’s response to public reports is still lagging behind that of the Fire Department (Damkar), struck a chord with the author. This is because the author has personally experienced both.
There’s no need to elaborate on these two aspects. What’s clear is that the Fire Department’s quick response was when he helped remove a large monitor lizard that had fallen from above and entered his house.
Wakapolri Dedi himself stated that, frankly, the public now feels more comfortable filing complaints with the Fire Department because of its faster response. Public complaints received via telephone are immediately answered and responded to quickly without further ado.
“The UN standard quick response time is under ten minutes. And we’re still above ten minutes. This is our homework in the Integrated Police Service Center (SPKT) area in responding to public reports,” said Wakapolri Dedi during a working meeting with Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) on Tuesday (18/11).
Therefore, he continued, to address this issue, the Polri will make every effort to improve the 110 call center service. The hope is that the public will become accustomed to and easily access this service.
“We will optimize the changes to 110 so that public complaints can be responded to in under 10 minutes,” he said.
One way is to conduct an evaluation by creating a guidebook titled “Do’s and Don’ts” as a guide for Polri members. We will also increase internal oversight to minimize public complaints.
“Why does arrogance occur? Why do deviant behaviors and abuse of power occur? It’s because our oversight is weak,” he said.
Furthermore, Wakapolri Dedi also stated that the Polri has formed a reform acceleration team to record and respond to every public demand for the institution. These include demands from human rights activists and research from the Sara Institute, which compiled issues within the Polri.
“We have recorded all the demands. We have also taken swift action in accordance with the Kapolri’s direction to form a team to accelerate the transformation of the Polri,” he added.
Furthermore, he stated that since early 2025, the Polri has been detecting and constructing police performance as an evaluation tool to improve quality.
To ensure the success of the Polri reform, the Polri has been collaborating with various parties. One of these is the Kompas Research and Development team, tasked with mapping the main tasks of the Polri for improvement.
Currently, the three main tasks of the Polri that have the best points are maintaining public security and order (harkamtibmas), law enforcement, and public services.
“Alhamdulillah, overall, public order and security (harkamtibmas) received quite good and high scores. This score reflects the positive public response to the main duties of the Polri. And this will continue to be improved,” promised Wakapolri Dedi. (Bembo)
