Emergency Response, Wakapolda East Java Dispatches Aid for Evacuees from Mount Semeru Eruption in Lumajang

Wakapolda East Java, Brigjen Pol Pasma Royce officially released humanitarian aid for evacuees affected by the eruption and pyroclastic flow (APG) of Mount Semeru in Lumajang Regency
progresifjaya.co.id, SURABAYA – The Polda East Java dispatched humanitarian aid to evacuees affected by the eruption and pyroclastic avalanche (APG) of Mount Semeru. This form of emergency response action was initiated by the Polri Corps which uses the shield and Mount Semeru logo.
The aid distribution ceremony was led by the Wakapolda of East Java, Brigjen Pol Pasma Royce, along with the Polda East Java Main Officials (PJU) from in front of the Tribrata Building at the Polda East Java on Friday, (21/11).
During his remarks, Wakapolda Pasma Royce stated that Mount Semeru’s current status is at Level IV, or Alert. Although there were no fatalities, three residents reportedly suffered severe burns and 17 others suffered minor injuries. All victims are currently receiving medical treatment.
Regarding aid delivery, the Wakapolda Pasma also emphasized that aid distribution had been directed to two main evacuation centers: the SD 04 Supiturang Post and the SMP 2 Pronojiwo Post in Pronojiwo District, Lumajang Regency, East Java.
At the SD 04 Supiturang Post, there are approximately 214 residents, with a significant number of vulnerable groups: 30 toddlers, one infant, three breastfeeding mothers, two pregnant women, 16 elderly people, and three people with disabilities.
Meanwhile, at the SMP 2 Pronojiwo Post, 88 residents are elderly, and 49 are children and toddlers.
“Considering the demographics of the evacuees, especially the large number of toddlers and elderly people, the aid we are sending today is a well-targeted emergency response,” said the Wakapolda Pasma.
Furthermore, he reminded personnel of the importance of a humane approach during distribution.
He also asked all personnel to maintain coordination with local posts to ensure that aid reaches its intended targets while ensuring their own safety and that of the team while in the disaster area.
“Remember, we are dealing with traumatized residents. Carry out our duties with humanity and empathy,” he emphasized.
At the end of his address, the Wakapolda Pasma officially saw off the Polda East Java cares humanitarian aid convoy, wishing a speedy recovery for the affected residents in Lumajang.
“In Syaa Allah protect us all and grant a speedy recovery to our brothers and sisters in Lumajang,” he concluded.
The humanitarian aid distribution sent off by the Wakapolda Pasma included infant necessities such as milk, diapers, cribs, and children’s clothing. This aid was prioritized for the SD 04 Supiturang Post.
Furthermore, 450 blankets were distributed to the elderly at both posts, particularly the 88 elderly at SMP 2 Pronojiwo, and 300 snack packages were distributed to children and adolescents in the evacuation site. “Blessed be Allah.” (Bembo)
