Polda Metro Jaya Becomes Pioneer in Indonesia to Hold Journalist Competency Test

Kapolda Metro Jaya, Irjen Pol Asep Edi Suheri, delivers remarks during the UKW at Polda Metro Jaya.

progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – Kapolda Metro Jaya, Irjen Pol Asep Edi Suheri, officially opened the Journalist Competency Test (UKW) organized by the Polda Metro Jaya  in collaboration with the Polri Journalists Forum (FWP) Polda Metro Jaya, in collaboration with the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) and the PWI Jaya.

The event, titled “Competent and Professional Journalists to Protect Jakarta from False Information,” was held at the  Polda Metro Jaya Meeting Hall in South Jakarta on Monday and Tuesday, December 15-16, 2025.

In his remarks, Kapolda Kang Asep ‘Sniper’ expressed his hope that the UKW, attended by 86 participants, would run smoothly and enhance synergy between journalists and the police, particularly the Polda Metro Jaya.

“In terms of anticipating the future, how do we counter news that is increasingly fast-paced, increasingly disintegrating, and often contains hoaxes. Therefore, we must have a shared perception and also foster good cooperation between the press and the police,” said Kapolda Kang Asep ‘Sniper’, Monday, December 15, 2025.

This UKW activity, continued Kapolda Kang Asep ‘Sniper’, also aligns with the statement by Kapolri Jenderal Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo about the importance of synergy and collaboration to combat the spread of false information or hoaxes that harm the wider community.

The presence of journalists in public spaces, continued Kapolda Kang Asep ‘Sniper’, is crucial for providing reliable information to convey the truth and educate the public.

This UKW activity also makes Polda Metro Jaya a pioneering regional police force throughout Indonesia to hold a UKW. Also present at the event were the Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Bhudi Hermanto, along with the Kapolres’s and other senior officials (PJU) of Polda Metro Jaya.  Also present were FWP Chairman Achmad Faruk, PWI Central Chairman Akhmad Munir, and PWI Jaya Chairman Kesit Budi Handoyo.

On this occasion, Akhmad Munir expressed his appreciation for the Polda Metro Jaya for facilitating the UKW, especially for journalists assigned to the Polda Metro Jaya.

He considered this activity crucial for journalists to build their integrity, professionalism, and ethics in their duties. It also allows them to produce high-quality, accurate work that can enlighten, educate, and empower the community, especially Jakarta residents.

“This competency test is a crucial part of journalists’ efforts to maintain integrity. It also enhances professionalism. And finally, it strengthens the press community to uphold the dignity and honor of the Indonesian press,” said Akhmad Munir.

He also hoped that the collaborative organization of this activity with the Polda Metro Jaya would create a safe, orderly, and peaceful city for its citizens. This resonates with the priority program Jaga Jakarta, consistently championed by Kapolda Kang Asep ‘Sniper’. Bravo.  (Bembo)
