progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – The public demonstration (unras) held at the Polri Headquarters on Friday, February 27, 2026, proceeded in a generally orderly manner. Polri security was also humane and showed extreme patience. Why? Because several students in yellow jackets behaved inappropriately toward security personnel. They either felt they were the smartest because they were members of the BEM UI, or they felt braver because they were so numerous.

In a circulating video, a female student is seen taking a head covering from one of the female police negotiators. The student then wrote something inappropriate on the white cloth and then appeared to be documenting the incident by holding the written text.

Another male student pointed at a security officer’s face while shouting.

The Head of Public Relations of the Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Bhudi Hermanto stated in an official statement, that
the head covering worn by the female police officer and scribbled on by the student is part of her uniform and serves to cover her private parts. Therefore, ethically, it is inappropriate for students to use it as a means of provocative expression. This includes the overly expressive behavior of students who act smart towards security personnel, pointing at their faces, which is inappropriate.

“We urge that opinions be expressed in a civilized manner. Without actions that demean or have the potential to provoke emotions in the field. The Polri respects citizens’ right to express their opinions. However, its implementation must remain orderly, polite, and ethical,” said Kombes Pol Bhudi on Friday, February 27, 2026.

“Our personnel in the field serve the public in a humane manner. However, the way they express their aspirations must also maintain ethics and respect others,” he added.

He also stated, that the Polda Metro Jaya encourages all parties to maintain a calm and conducive public space. The police, he continued, remain professional and measured in their duties to ensure everyone’s safety.

“We remind protesters to cooperate and prioritize dialogue. Also, comply with applicable regulations regarding public expression,” he emphasized. (Bembo)
