progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – The Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI) has criticized the Polda Metro Jaya’s decision to transfer the investigation into the acid attack on Kontras activist Andrie Yunus to the TNI Military Police Center (Puspom TNI). They consider the decision “legally flawed.”
The decision to transfer the case was revealed during a hearing between the Polda Metro Jaya and Commission III of the House of Representatives (DPR) on Tuesday, March 31, 2026. The Director of General Criminal Investigation (Dirreskrimum) of the Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Iman Imanuddin, revealed the decision during the hearing. The decision was made by Kombes Pol Iman after being asked by the Chairman of Commission III of the DPR, Habiburokhman, to provide an update on the handling of the Andrie Yunus case.
“We have referred this matter to the Puspom TNI,” explained Kombes Pol Iman in the meeting room, as reported.
Regarding this, the Chairman of YLBHI, Muhammad Isnur, expressed surprise and astonishment. According to him, the police, in this case the Polda Metro Jaya, should have referred this case to the prosecutor’s office after the investigation. That is the process stipulated in the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP).
“Furthermore, the Polda Metro Jaya’s investigation into this case is not yet complete,” he said, puzzled.

Chairman of the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI), Muhammad Isnur
Gema, a public lawyer at LBH Pers, added that as of Tuesday, March 31, 2026, his office had decided to officially request developments in the case by requesting an SP2HP (Notification Letter for Progress of Investigation Results) from the Polda Metro Jaya’s Criminal Investigation Directorate (Ditreskrimum).
“We will request an SP2HP from the Polda Metro Jaya’s Criminal Investigation Directorate for clarity. We cannot directly hear about the transfer of this case to the Puspom TNI,” Gema asserted.
The Advocacy Team for Democracy (TAUD), which is overseeing this case, also admitted that it has not seen any seriousness from President Prabowo Subianto, who previously stated he would consider forming a Joint Fact-Finding Team (TGPF).
According to TAUD, the formation of the TGPF is necessary because so far, the police and the TNI have opened investigations with conflicting results, such as regarding the suspect’s initials. They also believe that the simultaneous investigations by two institutions will only create “non-legal obstacles.”
“A joint fact-finding team must be formed to restore public trust in the government,” added Lakso Anindito, Chairman of Indonesia Calling 57 (IM 57+), a member of TAUD.
Komnas HAM Visits Polda Metro Jaya

Member of the Komnas HAM, Saurlin P. Siagian, and Director of Criminal Investigation of the Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Iman Imanuddin.
On Monday, March 30, 2026, the National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) requested direct information from the Polda Metro Jaya regarding developments in the Andrie Yunus case.
Komnas HAM met with the Director of Criminal Investigation at the Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Iman Imanuddin, and several of his staff.
“We received information in approximately three hours from the Jakarta Metropolitan Police regarding their actions, the investigation that has been conducted, and the steps that will be taken going forward,” said Komnas HAM member, Saurlin P. Siagian.
Saurlin continued, explaining that the Polda Metro Jaya admitted to Komnas HAM that they had submitted some of the documents needed to handle this case to the TNI. However, during the meeting, the police stated that they would continue the investigation.
“The Polda Metro Jaya are still continuing their investigation. They have not stopped the process,” he said.
Unfortunately, according to the meeting, Kombes Pol Iman Imanuddin chose to remain silent rather than speak out.
Saurlin also stated, that after meeting with the Polda Metro Jaya, they also plan to seek information from the TNI in the near future. Four soldiers from this institution are suspected of involvement and have been detained.
“We will continue to monitor this case and will summon the TNI in the near future,” he added. (Bembo)
