progresifjaya.co.id, KUNINGAN – The truck driver, identified as YT, who was the perpetrator of a fatal hit-and-run that killed a motorcyclist on Jalan Raya Desa Sindangagung, Kuningan Regency, on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, was successfully apprehended by the Kuningan Police Traffic Unit (Satlantas). Yt was apprehended less than 3 hours after the fatal incident.

During the pursuit, handled by the Kuningan Polres Traffic Unit’s Law Enforcement Unit (Gakkum), Yt’s escape was detected thanks to tracking technology and the thoroughness of personnel on the ground.

The fatal incident occurred when a turquoise Mitsubishi Colt Diesel Canter truck with license plate number Z-8130-VC, driven by Yt, completely mowed down a Yamaha Xeon motorcycle. Instead of stopping to provide assistance to the collapsed victim, Yt immediately accelerated and sped off towards Kramatmulya.

Upon receiving a report of a fatality, the Kuningan Polres Traffic Unit’s Law Enforcement Unit quickly conducted a thorough crime scene investigation. Officers then reviewed CCTV footage along the perpetrator’s escape route to identify the vehicle.

Thanks to the officers’ keen analytical skills, the truck driven by Yt was successfully identified. The vehicle was observed stopping at a chicken feed distribution warehouse in Cikaso Village before continuing its escape east of Kuningan.

The pursuit of Yt, who fled, ended in the Oleced area of Lebakwangi District. Police, having mapped Yt’s escape route, successfully intercepted him as the truck accelerated towards Luragung District. When forced to stop, Yt was unable to evade. Physical evidence of damage to the truck’s body provided irrefutable evidence that Yt was involved in the fatal accident.

In her explanation, the Head of the Traffic Law Enforcement Unit of the Kuningan Polres, Iptu Sri Martini, stated that Yt’s actions in fleeing after hitting a motorcyclist, resulting in his death, constituted a serious violation of the law.

“Alhamdulillah, we acted quickly and in less than three hours we managed to apprehend the alleged perpetrator and his vehicle,” explained Iptu Sri Martini, Thursday, April 2, 2026.

She also emphasized, that Yt’s behavior in fleeing responsibility would only increase the criminal penalties he faces in court. Therefore, she urged all motorists to always uphold humanitarian values while driving.

“If involved in an accident, the correct and civilized step is to stop, provide first aid to the victim, and immediately report it to the nearest police station. Never even think about running away from responsibility,” she emphasized. (Bembo)
