Potentially Slowing Traffic Flow on the Homecoming Route, Polda of the West Traffic Directorate Requests Temporarily Halt Becak and Andong Operations

Andongs and pedicabs are advised to temporarily stop operating on the 2026 Eid homecoming routes in West Java.

progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – The activities of andong and becak drivers are currently under the special attention of the Polda of the West Java Traffic Directorate (Ditlantas). The presence of andong and becak drivers has the potential to slow down traffic flow, especially on the homecoming route.

Therefore, the Polda of the West Java Traffic Directorate, Kombes Pol Raydian Krokosono, has recommended that andong and becak drivers be temporarily suspended during the Eid homecoming period.

“Usually, the presence of andong and becak drivers on the homecoming route often slows down the movement of travelers, especially at certain busy points,” he said on Tuesday, February 24, 2026.

“As in previous years, perhaps this year we will be more proactive in mitigating the problem of andong and becak drivers. We hope the government can accommodate them by suspending their operations during the homecoming period to ensure a smooth holiday flow,” he added.

The Polda of the West Java Traffic Directorate is also continuing to inspect several routes considered vulnerable during the 2026 Eid homecoming (mudik) holiday. Monitoring continues throughout the Trans Java route, the North Coast (Pantura), and the Southern arterial route.

West Java itself is a mainstay for the homecoming route from Sumatera, Jakarta, then to Central Java and East Java, and vice versa.

“We have inspected the Pantura route. We have also surveyed the Trans Java toll road, including the Southern arterial route, East Periangan, and most recently, with the Kapolda at Pansela,” said Kombes Pol Raydian. (Bembo)
