The Korlantas Polri has expressed its full readiness to guard the 2026 Eid homecoming and return traffic. Chief of the Korlantas Polri, Irjen Pol Agus Suryonugroho, emphasized that all ranks will provide the best service to the community based on the principle of unlimited service.
This was stated by the Chief of the Korlantas Polri, Irjen Pol Agus Suryonugroho, in an interview with the author on the NTMC Podcast hosted by Briptu Ecklesia and Briptu Ananda Rafi on Wednesday, March 11, 2026.
“This duty is an honor, and we must not tire ourselves. This is a mandate we must fulfill. The presence of the Polri on the roads is not only to regulate traffic, but also to ensure a safe journey to our destination. If necessary, we even arrive early and return last,” said Irjen Pol Agus in his podcast.
In accordance with the instructions of Kapolri Jenderal Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo, Operation Ketupat 2026 uses the tagline “Safe Homecoming, Happy Family.” Therefore, the Korlantas Polri has mapped five main security clusters, from toll roads, arterial roads, ferry ports, places of worship, and tourist attractions.
He also stated, that this year’s succession is the result of an in-depth evaluation of 2025 data. This year’s field decisions, such as the implementation of one-way traffic or contraflow, are based on precise traffic counting technology, no longer relying on manual predictions.
“To create a safe, orderly, and orderly traffic system, we can no longer rely on predictions or guesswork. We must use infrastructure technology such as E-TLE Precision Drones and VTOL (Vertical Take-Off and Landing) Drones. So, the parameter now is technology for making traffic engineering decisions,” he explained.
He gave an example, if in a technical simulation, the number of vehicles observed reaches 5.500 per hour on a toll road, a single-lane contraflow will be immediately implemented. If the number increases to 6.400 vehicles per hour, a contraflow lane will be added.
Irjen Pol Agus continued, learning from the 2025 challenges, changes to the engineering points on the toll road have also been made. While the previous lockout occurred at Km 188, the one-way scenario in 2026 will be extended to Km 236 Pejagan to more effectively address potential bottlenecks.
The same applies to crossing routes, such as Merak-Bakauheni. The Korlantas Polri has prepared a delay system and buffer zones in parking areas and rest areas at Km 43 and Km 64 in case of extreme weather conditions at the port.
“The port management system is now better. Ticketing has been regularly organized to expedite vehicle distribution,” said Irjen Pol Agus again.
The Chief of the Korlantas Polri also adopted a humanistic approach to convey safety messages through a song titled “Mudik Tertib, Ojo Kesusu”. This step was taken to ensure that the police’s advice would be more easily understood by the wider community, including the younger generation.
“Dreaming must be followed by thinking, then followed by planning. Planning is the key to success. We want people to travel home happily, depart safely, and arrive at their destinations safely and happily,” he said.
Furthermore, Irjen Pol Agus also reminded the public to take advantage of the work from anywhere (WFA) policy to ease traffic congestion. Finally, he advised the public to use the police assistance service at 110, which is on full alert 24/7 in case of any problems. (Bembo)
