Deputy Speaker of the DPR RI, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, received an audience with workers at the DPR/MPR Building on the occasion of May Day 2026.

progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, promised that the DPR will complete the Manpower Bill by 2026. He made this statement while addressing workers questioning the ratification of the Manpower Bill into law at the Parliament Complex to commemorate International Workers’ Day or May Day 2026, on Friday, May 1, 2026.

“The government and the DPR have agreed that by the end of this year, we will implement the Constitutional Court’s decision to create a new Manpower Law,” said Sufmi Dasco optimistically.

However, Sufmi Dasco continued, the speed of deliberations on the Manpower Law also depends on workers gathering various issues for prompt discussion by the DPR and the government.

He also explained, that the DPR will collaborate with the Indonesian Employers’ Association (APINDO) and other labor organizations to discuss the Manpower Law.  This is intended to allow for discussion of every issue and ultimately provide solutions to produce legislation.

“Once it’s mature, it will be brought to the DPR. We’ll discuss it together. So, we’re going back to this. We’re actually asking our fellow workers for the materials, what needs to be done next. This is a new law, after all. We’re not revising the old one. The mandate of the Constitutional Court’s ruling is that we must create a new labor law,” explained Sufmi Dasco.

According to him, “shopping” for issues from both workers and APINDO is a step to maximize the completion of the law. This will ensure that, after it’s passed, it won’t encounter problems that could lead to a challenge at the Constitutional Court.

“So that the law won’t be wasted and won’t be challenged again at the Constitutional Court, let our fellow workers prepare it. We’ll discuss it together with the government and the DPR here. And the team is full. There will be many friends of fellow workers who will be active in it,” said Sufmi Dasco.

Furthermore, Sufmi Dasco also stated, that the government has launched a Layoff Mitigation Task Force as an effort to improve the welfare of workers. Through the PKH Task Force, he continued, workers can report issues related to the outsourcing system, wages, and even layoffs.

Furthermore, he said, there are reports that several companies will be laying off workers in the next two or three months. Therefore, workers can report any problems to the task force.

“Earlier, we also received information from fellow workers that several companies are planning layoffs in the next two or three months. This has been submitted to the Layoff Mitigation and Worker Welfare Task Force for immediate action,” he emphasized.
