progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – Edi Hasibuan, Expert Advisor to the Kapolri for Law, Policing, and Criminology, and Executive Director of the Indonesian Police Strategic Studies Institute (Lemkapi), expressed his appreciation for the Polri’s performance in securing and serving the workers celebrating International Workers’ Day, or May Day 2026, in Jakarta and several other major cities. The commemoration activities proceeded safely and conducively.

In Jakarta, the Polda Metro Jaya successfully prevented a group of intruders who had the potential to cause unrest during the commemoration. The Polda of West Java also successfully quelled the anarchic actions of the black-clad group and have named six student perpetrators as suspects.

“We commend the performance of the Kapolri and all members of the Regional Police (Polda) who succeeded in ensuring the May Day commemoration ran peacefully and conducively. Any potential disturbances were immediately suppressed,” said Edi in Jakarta on Saturday, May 2, 2026.

According to this member of the National Police Commission (Kompolnas) for the 2012–2016 period, the Polri successfully took anticipatory measures by establishing good communication with labor leaders. This included a meeting held by Kapolri, Jenderal Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo with Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya ahead of May Day at the National Monument (Monas) area.

He emphasized, that synergy between security forces, relevant agencies, and the support of workers were crucial factors in creating a safe and conducive environment during the May Day commemoration.

“Thanks to the hard work of all members of the Polri and relevant agencies, as well as the support of workers, the May Day commemoration was able to proceed very safely, peacefully, and conducively. That’s fire,Polri!” he praised.
