progresifjaya.co.id, BANDUNG – Polda of West Java investigators are still investigating the anarchic actions of the black-clad mob who rioted and damaged and burned public facilities from Friday afternoon to evening, May 1, 2026. However, there is no definitive information yet on how many people were arrested as a result of the anarchic actions.

Polda of West Java  Public Relations Chief, Kombes Pol Hendra Rochmawan stated, that investigators are currently completing their investigation.

“We are still investigating and completing the investigation,” said Kombes Pol Hendra on Saturday, May 2, 2026.

He also didn’t confirm the number of people arrested in connection with the alleged destruction of public facilities.

He only stated, that further developments would be announced after the investigation is complete.

As is known, the Polda of West Java  arrested several black-clad mobs who damaged public facilities in the Tamansari and Cikapayang areas from afternoon to evening.

This mob is suspected of being the perpetrators of the anarchist riots commemorating International Workers’ Day or May Day 2026 in Bandung City. They committed vandalism in the Cikapayang area of Bandung City, burning several public facilities and blocking road access.

This anarchist mob was dispersed by joint officers from the Polda of West Java and the Polrestabes of Bandung City. The mob, pushed back by the officers, then fled towards the Pasupati Flyover and the Cihampelas Bawah area.

According to amateur video footage, the protesters were seen vandalizing and burning several vital points in the Cikapayang area. The facilities targeted included videotrons, several kiosks, and a police post.

Kapolda of West Java, Irjen Pol Rudi Setiawan stated, that the anarchists, dressed in all black, who were involved in the riot, had been arrested. This is part of law enforcement efforts against those suspected of involvement in the action.

“Some (people were arrested). We cannot yet provide details on who was detained, the evidence, or other actions,” said Irjen Pol Rudi at Simpang Dago yesterday.

He also stated, that investigators have gathered preliminary evidence pointing to the involvement of the alleged perpetrators, which will be used as the basis for further legal proceedings.

According to him, the black-clad group involved in the riot had absolutely nothing to do with expressing their aspirations. The mob was purely anarchic, committing vandalism and leading to criminal activity.

The black-clad mob reportedly damaged several public facilities, including traffic lights, CCTV cameras, police posts, videotrons, and even kiosks that were allegedly set on fire.

“This is a criminal act, and we are obligated to protect the public,” said Irjen Pol Rudi.

He added, that his team is still investigating the background and motives of the group involved in the riot.

“We are still investigating the motive. What is clear is that this was not an act of expressing opinions, but rather vandalism,” he emphasized.
