Polri Commend Workers’ Orderly Expression of Aspirations

progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – The Polri commended the workers who expressed their aspirations in an orderly manner during the commemoration of International Workers’ Day, or May Day, held at the National Monument (Monas) in Jakarta, as well as in several other regions in Indonesia on Friday, May 1, 2026.

The Polri assessed that the peaceful demonstration demonstrated an orderly approach to expressing opinions. It also fostered a spirit of mutual respect between the protesters and security forces on the ground. The conducive atmosphere during the May Day commemoration also reflected that the expression of aspirations can proceed in tandem with maintaining public order.

The Head of the Public Relations Division of the Polri, Irjen Pol Johnny Eddizon Isir stated in a statement, that the Polri expressed their appreciation to the workers who expressed their aspirations in an orderly, peaceful manner, and in a manner that respected the applicable regulations.

“The Polri appreciates the workers who expressed their aspirations in an orderly manner during today’s International Workers’ Day commemoration. This demonstrates an orderly approach to expressing opinions and a shared responsibility to maintain a safe and conducive situation,” said Irjen Pol Johnny in Jakarta on Friday, May 1, 2026.

The commemoration of International Workers’ Day or May Day 2026 at Monas was safe, orderly and conducive.

He emphasized, that the relationship between police officers and workers during the event was based on a spirit of mutual respect. Furthermore, the Polri were present to oversee the process of expressing their aspirations and ensure that all participants felt safe and comfortable.

“We observed a strong sense of mutual respect between personnel in the field and our fellow workers. The Polri respects the public’s right to express their opinions, and the protesters also helped maintain order,” he said.

Furthermore, this humane approach will continue to be prioritized by all levels of government in securing May Day in Jakarta and other regions. The goal is to ensure that activities proceed smoothly without disrupting the interests of the wider community.
