Kapolri, Jenderal Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo, with the Governor of the Special Region of Yogyakarta, Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X, during the groundbreaking ceremony for the Polda of Yogyakarta Headquarters.
progresifjaya.co.id, DIY – The Governor of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY), Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X, stated that the construction of the Polda of Yogyakarta Headquarters is a strategic opportunity to strengthen conventional security. It also aims to develop a modern security system that is adaptive to the digital era.
This statement was made by Sri Sultan at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Polda of Yogyakarta Headquarters in Godean, Sleman, on Sunday, May 3, 2026. He believes, that the construction is not just a physical project, but also the starting point for transforming the security system to be more responsive to changing times.
“The groundbreaking ceremony for the Polda of Yogyakarta Headquarters is a strategic kick-off. Conventional security is increasingly solid as a pillar of order, while modern security is growing more flexible and clairvoyant,” said Sri Sultan.
According to him, the current threat landscape is increasingly complex. It takes the form of not only physical disruption but also cybercrime, disinformation, and declining public trust.
“Threats no longer merely appear as physical disturbances, but have manifested in the form of cybercrime, disinformation, and the erosion of public trust,” said Sri Sultan.
Therefore, he emphasized the importance of a security system that can respond quickly and accurately, while upholding integrity. He continued, saying that the Polda of Yogyakarta Headquarters must become a center for system development and strengthening of the Polri’s human resources.
“This building is designed not just as a workspace, but also as the architecture of a future civilization,” said Sri Sultan.
He also emphasized, that police modernization must not abandon basic humanitarian values. He continued, the police must be able to balance technological sophistication with social sensitivity.
“The police of the future are those who can interpret data with technology, while simultaneously interpreting feelings with a sensitive conscience,” Sri Sultan emphasized.
Kapolri, Jenderal Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo, who also led the groundbreaking ceremony stated, that the construction of the Polda of Yogyakarta Headquarters clearly embodies the concept of Precision combined with the local value of Memayu Hayuning Bawana.
“This is a mandate for us to maintain, improve, and create harmony in society, in line with the values of Tri Brata and Catur Prasetya,” said the Kapolri.
He explained, that the new building will adopt a smart city concept supported by digital technologies such as data-driven policing, social listening, and strengthening cybersecurity.
“With AI and data integration, we can detect early and take precise action to address community needs,” he said.
He added, that construction will begin in the 2026 fiscal year and be carried out in stages until all facilities are functioning optimally.
“We will start in 2026. We will see whether it can be completed in one year or in stages. What is clear is that the move from the old to the new building will be done in stages,” he further explained.
