progresifjaya.co.id, BANDUNG – Kapoda of West Java, Irjen Pol Rudy Setiawan sincerely hopes Persib Bandung can score a historic brace by becoming Liga 1 champions again. However, he acknowledged that achieving this feat will not be easy, as Persib Bandung, in first place in the standings, has the same 72 points as second-placed Borneo FC. They only have a head-to-head advantage over Borneo FC.
Nevertheless, the two-star general, a graduate of the 1993 Gatra Pesat Battalion, still urged Bobotoh (Persib supporters) to maintain a calm atmosphere wherever they are while their beloved team celebrates its victory.
“Hopefully, that will happen again. We’re happy to celebrate. But let’s not create an unfavorable atmosphere,” said Irjen Pol Rudi in his official statement on Friday, May 8, 2026.
He also explained, that the police, along with the regional government and the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), will continue to maintain security to ensure the situation remains under control after the match.
“I’m ordering everyone. We, the police, will be assisted by the provincial government and the TNI to ensure a conducive atmosphere after the match,” he added.
For the record, Persib Bandung and Borneo FC both have three matches remaining. Maung Bandung will play two away matches against Persija Jakarta and PSM Makassar, and will host Persijap Jepara at home.
Meanwhile, Pesut Etam will travel to face Bali United, then face Persijap Jepara, and finally host Malut United. Both teams are targeting three wins in their remaining three matches.
We’ll see if anyone slips up, or if Persib Bandung will still be crowned champion based on the current head-to-head record.
