Game 7 Spurs vs Thunder, Who Will Advance to the NBA Finals Face the New York Knicks

The match between the San Antonio Spurs and the Oklahoma City Thunder.

progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – The 2025/2026 NBA season is nearing its end. The NBA Finals will soon be held on June 3, 2026. One finalist is already known: the New York Knicks. This team advanced to the finals for the first time this two decade after a 4-0 sweep of the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals.

The only thing that remains to be seen is who they will face in the finals. Will it be the San Antonio Spurs or the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder?

The Western Conference Finals between the San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder are currently in Game 7. After six games, the two teams have tied 3-3.

In Game 1, which took place on May 19, 2026, the San Antonio Spurs defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder in double overtime with a score of 122-115. The Spurs lead 1-0.

In Game 2, held on May 20, 2026, it was the Oklahoma City Thunder’s turn to defeat the San Antonio Spurs 122-113, leveling the score at 1-1.

San Antonio Spurs star Victor “Wemby” Wembanyama, who performed exceptionally and dominated in Game 6, is expected to return to his best form in Game 7 to lead the San Antonio Spurs to the 2025/2026 NBA Finals.

In Game 3, on May 22, 2026, the Oklahoma City Thunder again defeated the San Antonio Spurs 123-108, turning the score around to 1-2. In Game 4 on May 23, 2026, the Oklahoma City Thunder again defeated the San Antonio Spurs 103-82, widening the lead to 1-3.

The Oklahoma City Thunder were just one win away from securing a double-digit victory, securing their second consecutive NBA Finals berth. However, in Game 5 on May 25, 2026, the Oklahoma City Thunder lost 114-127 to the San Antonio Spurs, narrowing the Thunder’s lead to 2-3.

In Game 6, which should have advanced the Thunder directly to the Finals, the Thunder suffered another setback.  The San Antonio Spurs defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 118-91 in Game 6 on May 29, 2026. The final score was tied 3-3.

It will be interesting to see the outcome of Game 7. Will the San Antonio Spurs be able to reach the NBA Finals again after their last appearance in 2014, or will the Oklahoma City Thunder make history with a double-header in the NBA Finals.

Looking at the head-to-head record, the two teams have met 117 times in the NBA. The San Antonio Spurs hold a slight advantage with 61 wins compared to the Oklahoma City Thunder’s 56.

However, Game 7, taking place at Paycom Center, Oklahoma, on Saturday, May 30, 2026, local time (Sunday, May 31, 2026, at 7:00 a.m. WIB), will not rely on their head-to-head record. The Oklahoma City Thunder are slightly favored by a -3.5-point margin.  However, the momentum of the Spurs’ decisive victory in Game 6 is predicted to make this match very intense.

The phenomenon of San Antonio Spurs star Victor “Wemby” Wembanyama, who performed exceptionally and dominated in Game 6 with a double-double of 28 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 blocks, is one reason. His ability to dictate the paint also proved very difficult for the Oklahoma City Thunder defense.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (SGA) of the Oklahoma City Thunder is predicted to be much more aggressive and effective, especially after their crushing loss in Game 6.

Meanwhile, the performance of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (SGA) was the main focus for the Oklahoma City Thunder after he struggled to find his shooting rhythm in Game 6 (scoring only 15 points on 6 shots from 18 attempts). The Oklahoma City Thunder relied heavily on him to lead the scoring.

However, playing at home gives the Oklahoma City Thunder a slight advantage. The support of the Paycom Center crowd will be a crucial morale booster to overcome the tension in the deciding game.

The vital roles of De’Aaron Fox and rookie Stephon Castle will also be tested in breaking down OKC’s tight defense and distributing the ball to the San Antonio Spurs players.

Meanwhile  The Oklahoma City Thunder will rely heavily on the speed and scoring ability of their star player, SGA. This is especially true given that SGA hasn’t replicated his Game 6 performance.

As for the prediction, based on the series trend of home wins since Game 3, the Oklahoma City Thunder are predicted to have a 58.8% chance of securing a narrow victory and advancing to the next round. Do you agree or disagree?
