progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA — The Tiger Team from the Polsek of Tambora Criminal Investigation Unit has successfully apprehended a motor vehicle theft ring that had been plaguing residents in the densely populated Tambora District of West Jakarta.

The two perpetrators—identified as repeat offenders Lulu Ridwan and Rizki Noviadi—were arrested following an investigation based on CCTV footage.

The footage showed the pair walking through residential alleys in the Duri Selatan area of ​​Tambora, scouting for target motorcycles.

When the area was quiet and free of resident activity, the perpetrators executed their plan by forcing the ignition lock of a targeted motorcycle. They managed to steal the vehicle in a very short time.

They didn’t stop at just one location, the pair committed a similar crime, stealing another resident’s motorcycle in the same neighborhood.

Acting on the CCTV footage, the Polsek of Tambora Tiger Team launched an investigation. Within three weeks, both suspects were apprehended at their hideouts.

Lulu Ridwan was arrested while asleep in his rented home in the Setia Kawan area of ​​Gambir, Central Jakarta. Not far from that location, police also successfully apprehended the second suspect, Rizki Noviadi.

During the arrests, authorities seized several T-keys—tools commonly used to facilitate motor vehicle theft.

Kapolsek of Tambora, AKP Wahyu Hidayat explained, that both suspects were repeat offenders with prior involvement in similar crimes.

He added, that the stolen motorcycles were sold directly by the perpetrators for approximately Rp5 million each. The proceeds were used to cover daily living expenses, fund a lavish lifestyle, and purchase crystal methamphetamine. 

“We are continuing our investigation to fully uncover this network. This includes locating the stolen vehicles and identifying other parties suspected of acting as fences,” said AKP Wahyu Hidayat.

For their actions, the two perpetrators have been charged under Article 479 of the Criminal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of seven years in prison.

The Polsek of Tambora are currently expanding the investigation to recover the stolen motorcycles and identify any other individuals involved in the fencing network.

This successful operation demonstrates the Polsek of Tambora commitment to maintaining security and ensuring public safety, particularly in densely populated areas that are vulnerable to motor vehicle theft.
