Protests turned into riots in the Pejompongan, Slipi flyover, and Petamburan areas.

progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – Protesters from the August 27, 2026, demonstration have not yet dispersed. Thousands remain gathered and are clashing with police in the Slipi and Pejompongan areas.

The crowd, appearing to consist of students, is carrying items such as long bamboo poles and firecrackers. Clashes broke out on the Slipi flyover (heading toward Grogol) and in the area beneath the Pejompongan flyover.

On-site observations indicate the clashes began around 8:00 PM WIB. The crowd gathered on the Slipi flyover refused to disperse, despite police appeals made via loudspeakers.

“Colleagues, please disperse. Stop throwing things at our officers,” police urged from a tactical vehicle marked Brimob on the night of Thursday, August 27, 2026.

The clashes spread to Jalan Pejompongan Raya. Tires were even set ablaze near the Pejompongan railway crossing, forcing the temporary closure of Palmerah Station.

Meanwhile, a police post beneath the Slipi flyover was also set on fire by the crowd. Brimob officers on trail bikes continued efforts to push the crowd back.

Consequently, the clashes drew onlookers along Jalan Pejompongan Raya. Dressed entirely in black, the crowd on the Slipi flyover kept hurling various objects at the officers.

The confrontation extended to the vicinity of Wisma BNI Pejompongan. The crowd on the flyover continued to pelt officers with stones and firecrackers. Despite this, security forces didn’t respond with tear gas.

Hundreds of Students Head to Petamburan

Hundreds of students wearing white-and-grey uniforms were also seen walking in groups toward Petamburan, Central Jakarta.

Along the way, they sang the song “Indonesia Pusaka” while clapping their hands. On-site observations revealed no police officers stationed around the Slipi traffic light intersection.

The West Jakarta Traffic Police post also appeared empty, with no personnel on duty.

Meanwhile, four ambulances were seen on standby in front of the Graha Slipi building.

These ambulances were prepared to provide aid to protesters who might sustain injuries or require medical attention during the demonstration.

Towards the direction of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) building, a number of motorcycles could still be seen parked along both sides of the road. (Bembo)
