The Polda Metro Jaya Traffic Directorate has prepared situational traffic diversion plans for today’s demonstrations.

progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – The Traffic Directorate (Ditlantas) of the Polda Metro Jaya calls on all parties to work together in maintaining public convenience during the expression of public opinion.

Polda Metro Jaya Traffic Director, Kombes Pol Firman Darmansyah, emphasized, that the police always respect the public’s right to express opinions in public. However, it is hoped that this freedom goes hand-in-hand with respect for the rights of other citizens who are working, going about their daily activities, and using traffic spaces safely and comfortably.

“We value and respect the public’s right to express opinions in public. However, we also serve the general public as they go about their activities—whether commuting to work, working, attending school, or engaging in other public activities. We are committed to keeping public spaces comfortable,” said Kombes Pol Firman.

According to him, maintaining shared spaces in Jakarta is a responsibility shared by all parties. Therefore, he urges both those voicing their aspirations and those continuing their daily routines to respect one another and maintain order.

“In principle, we want all members of the public to be able to carry out their activities safely and comfortably. Aspirations can still be voiced, while other citizens retain the space to work, go about their activities, and use the roads,” he explained.

To support the smooth flow of public activity, the Polda Metro Jaya Traffic Directorate has prepared several traffic management plans. However, their implementation will be situational, depending on actual traffic conditions on the ground.

“As of now, the traffic situation is observed to be safe and under control. Regarding demonstrations, we have prepared security and traffic management plans consistent with the routine procedures usually implemented in Jakarta,” Kombes Pol Firman explained.

He clarified, that traffic management measures would not be implemented automatically. If traffic continues to flow smoothly, officers will not divert the flow. Conversely, if conditions on the ground require regulation or diversion, then… Officers stationed at the site will promptly provide guidance to the public.

“Any traffic management measures implemented will be situational and limited in scope. If traffic flow remains smooth, we certainly will not divert traffic. However, should diversions be necessary at certain points, we will ensure officers are on-site to provide instructions and guidance to the public,” he stated.

He added, that public demonstrations have the potential to increase vehicle volume and congestion on several road sections. Therefore, the public is advised to plan their journeys carefully and stay updated on the latest traffic information.

“We urge the public to plan their trips well, monitor the latest traffic updates, and avoid areas prone to congestion. People might also consider adjusting their travel times or taking alternative routes,” concluded Kombes Pol Firman. (Bembo)
