Humanitarian Gesture, Police Distribute Bread and Mineral Water to Sugarcane Farmers Protesting at Monas

Female police officers from the Polda Metro Jaya and Polres Metro of Central Jakarta carry out a humanitarian gesture by distributing food and beverages to protesters from the National Executive Board of the Indonesian Smallholder Sugarcane Farmers Association (DPN APTRI).
progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – Female police officers from the Polda Metro Jaya and Polres Metro of Central Jakarta demonstrated care for the protesters from the National Executive Board of the Indonesian Smallholder Sugarcane Farmers Association (DPN APTRI) who were demonstrating in the Monas area, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.
They distributed bread and mineral water to the participants. The activity took place around 10:05 WIB on Jalan Merdeka Selatan, Monas, specifically across from the Danareksa Tower.
Kapolres Metro of Central Jakarta, Kombes Pol Reynold E.P. Hutagalung stated, that the distribution of food and beverages was a form of service and care from the Polri toward the public as they voiced their aspirations.
“The Polri are present not only to secure the event but also to provide service and care to the community. We want to ensure that participants can convey their aspirations safely, comfortably, and in an orderly manner,” said Kombes Pol Reynold.
He emphasized, that the Polri always respect the public’s right to express opinions in public. However, he also reminded everyone to ensure the entire protest proceeded peacefully and did not disrupt public order.
“We respect every citizen’s right to express their opinion. Let us work together to keep the situation conducive, orderly, and peaceful. Please convey your aspirations in a proper manner without resorting to anarchic actions,” he said.
A total of 524 personnel were deployed to secure this demonstration. As of now, the situation around the protest site remains safe and orderly.
“We prioritize a humanitarian approach in securing every protest. The presence of officers in the field is intended to provide a sense of security while demonstrating that the Polri are always here to serve the community,” added Kombes Pol Reynold. (Bembo)
