Multi-vehicle accident on Jalan Kembang Kerep, Kembangan, West Jakarta.

progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – The Polres Metro of West Jakarta stated, that the multi-vehicle crash which killed three people on Jalan Kembang Kerep, Kembangan, last week, is suspected to have been caused by a driver losing control of their vehicle.

“The initial suspicion points to human error—specifically, the driver losing control. However, this still requires further investigation,” explained the Head of the Traffic Unit at Polres Metro ofWest Jakarta, Kompol Reza Hafiz Gumilang, when confirmed in Jakarta on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.

Police have so far been unable to obtain statements from the parties involved in the accident because the four injured victims remain under intensive care.

“We are currently waiting on the parties involved in the crash, as they are still being treated in the hospital. Only after doctors declare them fit will we conduct intensive questioning,” said Kompol Reza.

Previously, the police had also released the chronology of the multi-vehicle crash—which resulted in three fatalities and four injuries—that occurred on Jalan Kembang Kerep, Kembangan, West Jakarta, on the afternoon of Saturday, September 5.

“This multi-vehicle accident began when a BYD minibus with license plate B 2703 BNA, driven by Karsono, was traveling from south to north,” said the Head of the Law Enforcement Unit (Kanit Gakkum) of the Polres Metro of West Jakarta, AKP Joko Siswanto, when confirmed at the time.

Upon reaching the area near the downward slope of the Kembang Kerep Bridge, the vehicle struck a Kijang Innova minibus license plate B 1277 UIH driven by Hadi Wibawa.

The force of the rear-end collision pushed the Kijang Innova forward, causing it to crash into a Toyota Fortuner license plate L 1021 BAD.

“As a result of being struck from behind, the Toyota Fortuner lost control and veered to the right,” said AKP Joko. 

The left side of the Fortuner then struck a Honda Vario motorcycle license plate B 4915 BCD ridden by Andi Prasetyo, which was traveling alongside it.

“The impact of the multi-vehicle collision claimed the lives of three people—a family riding the motorcycle,” he added.

As a result of the accident, the Honda Vario rider, Andi Prasetyo, was rushed to Hermina Daan Mogot Hospital but passed away while undergoing treatment for severe head injuries.

Meanwhile, the two passengers on the motorcycle—Yeni Sumarti and a seven-year-old child named Zeline Zakeisha—died at the scene due to severe head injuries. Their bodies were taken to the Tangerang Regency Regional General Hospital.

“In addition to the fatalities, four other people sustained injuries. The driver of the BYD minibus, Karsono, suffered chest injuries and is being treated at Cengkareng Regional General Hospital,” AKP Joko added.

Meanwhile, three other passengers—Seruniwati Suganda, Handoko Argawa, and Yessy Lestiany—sustained head and neck injuries. They are currently receiving medical treatment at Pondok Indah Hospital Puri Kembangan. (Bembo)
