progresifjaya.co.id, BEKASI – Kapolri, Jenderal Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo has urged companies to change their perspective regarding workers. Workers should not merely be viewed as a labor force; rather, they should be regarded as assets, partners, and members of the corporate family.
The Kapolri conveyed this message while attending the Grand Consolidation of the Indonesian Metal Workers Union Federation (FSPMI) at the MM2100 Industrial Estate in Bekasi Regency, West Java, on Friday, August 11, 2026. The event was themed “Industrial Relations: Fairness and a Conducive Investment Climate”.
“Treat workers as assets, partners, and part of the company family,” the Kapolri stated.
He believes, this perspective is crucial for fostering healthy industrial relations. Corporate sustainability and worker welfare are not conflicting interests; instead, they must go hand in hand.
Companies require productive, high-quality workers to survive and grow. Conversely, workers need healthy companies to ensure job security and improve their well-being.
This balance is increasingly vital amidst global geopolitical and economic dynamics that place pressure on the business world and the labor sector. Such conditions demand that the government, business owners, investors, and workers strengthen their communication and collaboration.
The Kapolri also commended FSPMI’s efforts to prioritize rapport-building and dialogue with the government and the business community. Divergent interests in industrial relations should ideally be resolved through communication and deliberation, rather than through actions that ultimately harm either the workers or the company.
A similar approach was evident in the discussions regarding the Job Creation Law, which began with meetings between labor unions and business associations. This step deserves appreciation as an effort to find common ground while upholding regulations and protecting workers’ rights.
This major FSPMI consolidation event brought together approximately 2.000 workers from around 1.200 companies within the MM2100 Industrial Estate. Attendees included representatives from labor unions, the business community, APINDO, local government, industrial estate management, and the Polri.
Amidst efforts to strengthen industrial relations, the government continues to promote downstream industrialization and investment to create new jobs. Indonesia’s abundant natural resources and vast domestic market serve as vital assets for boosting economic value-added and expanding employment opportunities.
However, such investment requires a secure and conducive environment. Consequently, the Kapolri urged that any instances of extortion, thuggery, or other public order disturbances hindering business activities be immediately reported to the police for appropriate action.
Increased investment must also go hand-in-hand with improvements in workforce quality. In this regard, the Kapolri commended the role of SMK Mitra Industri MM2100 in preparing a workforce that is increasingly competitive and capable of assuming managerial or strategic positions within companies.
Ultimately, synergy among the government, the business sector, investors, and workers is the key to sustaining investment growth, expanding job opportunities, and improving worker welfare as the nation moves toward
Golden Indonesia 2045. (Bembo)
